Good place to spend an hour or so learning about the blues and the impact Memphis has had on music. Thought the history of Blues was especially interesting and had a good selection of music that typified the sounds of Memphis as it evolved.

This museum is more or less self guided with audio machines which was ok, but wish to be educated more by people directly. The intro video is educational and explains the origin of soul and rock from the both the african-american and rural whites. The location is so close to Beal Street - so you can park in one location and see many things in walking distance

We spent two hours and you could easily spend double that. admission includes a headset and tour. not very big and you spend a long time standing looking at the exhibits and listening to the audio tour. Very interesting covering the early blues, race music, hillbilly music, on to rock and soul. Goes right up to the 1950s and 1960s ending with Elvis' movie career. Interesting memorabilia from celebrities and period antiques

December 21, 2017 - We had an Entertainment Book coupon allowing us entry at two for one at $12. The Museum is a short distance from the Peabody Hotel, where we were staying for two nights before our river cruise to New Orleans.

We have been to Graceland and the Rock and Roll Museum at Cleveland so we were skeptical about the Rock and Soul Museum. Well, we were blown away with the Musuem's excellent chronological organization, clear and concise audio explanations, music at each historical journey, jukeboxes, pictures, artifacts, and movie posters. We thought that we would breeze through the Museum but we were mistaken because it was so interesting and well done.

The audio guide was very easy to use. You could go forward, back up, repeat, increas and decrease the volume. It was one of the easiest audio guides we have ever used and made the journey through the museum a pleasure.

If you have a few extra hours in Memphis, I highly recommend stopping a the Rock and Soul Museum.
