Opened by rock pioneer Sam Phillips in 1950, this national Historic Landmark is where superstar musicians like Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and countless others started their recording careers. Today, Sun Studio still serves as a recording studio in the evenings while hosting public tours during the daytime hours.

Wow. If you are a lover of music, you need to take your behind to Memphis and go here. TAKE THE TOUR! TAKE THE TOUR! TAKE THE TOUR! Totally worth it; so much cool history and super interesting. Lots of swanky souvenirs if ya wanna buy some stuff too. If I were in Memphis, I would go again. It's that great.

“Really worth the visit”
Reviewed 10 May 2014 via mobile

After visiting Graceland you need the visit Sun Studio. Our guide was excellent and made everything fun. At first glance it looks old and tired. Along the way you realize it is all original. That makes it all the more charming. Anyone who has seen the stage musical Million Dollar Quartet needs to visit Sun. If you have not seen Million Dollar Quartet and love the music find a way to see it.

“Don't miss Sun Studio”
Reviewed 10 May 2014

What a great piece of music history! It's a small and rather quaint studio but well worth the visit. You can walk around and read as much or as little as you'd like but I recommend listening to your guide. We had a great guide - sooooooooooooo enthusiastic about his job - and he LOVED telling you all about it. He made it even more interesting with all his comments and tidbits. Wished they played more music in the background but I guess that would have been distracting. All in all, a wonderful hour or so going back in time.

“A must stop on your tour of Memphis”
Reviewed 9 May 2014

This was my favorite stop in Memphis. Yes, it's small, but worth it. It starts with the background of the studio and makes it's way to the Recording Studio where you can just feel the history. I learned a lot and enjoyed my tour guide. If you are looking for glitz and glamour, go to Graceland. If you are looking for history don't miss the Sun Studio! One tip - don't count of the free tourbus. There are very few seats and they run about once an hour. We almost got stuck in Graceland. It's worth it to pay for a tour with a company.
