The Peabody hotel is very grand, particularly the lobby. It is well-located in downtown Memphis, within easy reach of Beale street and numerous restaurants. Our room was very comfortable, and quite spacious, although the bathroom was tiny. Disappointingly, the indoor pool was empty while we were there and the adjoining gym was very hot and dusty. Breakfast, included in our package, was ok but nothing special. However I would recommend staying here for the location, good service and general plushness.

Perhaps a bit of renovation is in order. Our room was HUGE but the closet and bathroom were very small. The hotel is incredibly busy in an otherwise quiet downtown area. The price we were originally quoted on our reservation was quite high but we were able to reduce it by checking back before we travelled. The public areas are very nice but busy. As we didn't really need our car, we wasted the extra charge for valet parking. The hotel is near almost everything you will want to do in the downtown area. Didn't quite understand the "duck thing" but did stay to see it one afternoon.

Went to Memphis a couple of years back and stayed near graceland but it was a taxi into Beale Street each night so decided to pay a bit extra and stay at Peabody this time. To be fair, for the quality of the hotel and the service you get the price is still quite reasonable, Hotel staff were great, the decor, rooms, everything just oozes class. The duck show is fun but I guess the influx of tourists for this delight can be a bit annoying if you stay there but thats a bit cheeky as i was one of them a few years back. i would recommend this hotel to anybody visiting Memphis.

Loved The Peabody! Amazing service culture displayed by every level of associate. Fabulous ambiance, southern charm with up to date modern amenities. Lots to do within walking distance...... and there are the ducks!

i was there on business, definitely going back for a family weekend. I highly recommend.

So, it's not some sleek new modern hotel, okay? It's the Peabody Hotel! The PEABODY. You stay here and pay these prices because it's the Peabody. Tastefully decorated rooms with comfy beds that could be in any "nicer" hotel with, yes, small bathrooms in keeping with the age of this historic building...but the history, the ambience, even the duck march...THAT'S why you stay at the Peabody. The Lobby is a wonderful place to sit and soak in the essence of the place. Sink into one of the sofas and order a drink or an $8.00 dessert while you listen to the piano player tickle the ivories and let your mind wander back in time. Stay at the Peabody because it's The Peabody; the naysayers have missed the point entirely.

This is a fantastic hotel with excellent location and a lobby that will overwhelm you. But rooms vary and of course so do rates. I would come back in a minute for the hospitality, food, and atmosphere. But if you are staying for awhile, don't hesitate to check rooms out. I had an impossibly small bathroom - not a big deal for a very short stay and solo. But taking all your toiletry / shaving stuff into the bathroom each time you need it (no shelves) can be a chore if a long stay. And view from room was a rooftop. But .. other rooms had larger bathrooms and good views. What will bring you back is the service and style. Of course location perfect ... but there are branded hotels nearby with same location. So its an ideal hotel on so many levels ... just be smart about it.

Room Tip: Avoid the tiny bathroom rooms and if possible, an outside room facing a street.

Doug Weatherford is not only a private walking tour guide, he is also one of the Duckmasters at the Peabody. We had front row seats at the March of the Ducks and then he proceeded to give us a tour of the hotel and the "Duck Palace" on the roof. After the Peabody tour, we walked through the area best known for the Blues and Rock and Roll - it is truly Music City. He also guided us on the local tram that went down to the waterfront. Next day we went to Graceland, which was terrific. On to Nashville from here.
