“Very pretty & fun for birthday parties”
Reviewed 22 August 2014

I was here for a child's birthday party & thought that it was beautiful, informative, interactive & fun for the kids & adults! Lot's of beautiful walking trails, photo opportunities, live animals to see & places to sit & enjoy nature.

“Beautiful but POISON SUMAC AND OAK everywhere along walking trails!”
Reviewed 29 July 2014 via mobile

Beautiful, beautiful serene place in the middle of congested Memphis. My little one loves nature centers, parks, hands on things and she loves it. We visited as free visitors on a Tuesday afternoon, it wasn't too crowded. A Pink Palace Museum and the nature center are included in a membership, both could justify paying that amount.

WATCH OUT FOR POISON SUMAC! This is where improvements are needed. Trim back the poison sumac and oak. This is very nerve wracking with toddlers, allergies, etc. Also an actual playground would be a fun addition! Thanks for the visit!

“Best Nature Center for Lotus Pond”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

This is very nice nature center. Large, clean, lots of buildings and gazebos to sit and rest. The most amazing huge lotus pond with gigantic flowers. Truly an amazing board walk thru the lotus pond. Interactive things in main building for children. Nice walking trails.

“A Quiet Place to Wander”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

A nice place to take a walk and have a picnic lunch. The nature center was well-maintained and the staff were very friendly. We enjoyed seeing the live animals.

“Frequent visitor, member for years but disappointed this time”
Reviewed 16 June 2014 via mobile

We've been members for years and frequent the Lichterman Nature Center often but our most recent visit was a disappointment... We picked up sandwiches and planned a picnic and brought our GPS to get the new geocaches there. We checked in with the desk to provide our membership card and request the sheet of coordinates for the geocaches (they don't publish them on the site like most geocaches - you have to get the actual coordinates from the front desk for those inside the park). We were told that they gave out the last coordinate sheet and did not make any new copies or reserve an original... What?! How do you plan on anyone exploring your geocaches without coordinates?
Then we proceeded towards the pavilion where the picnic tables are to eat our sandwiches but there was a fraternity setting up for some later event with music blaring... They were not yet occupying the tables with guests but they were bar-b-queuing and had unbearably loud speakers nearby so we had to adjourn to a bench elsewhere. So a planned peaceful afternoon of geocaching, picnic and nature setting turned out quite differently. We huddled on a bench, holding our sandwiches in our laps, tried to talk over the music and then just left since we could not geocache.
