A spacious, genteel cool comfortable oasis after running around Memphis. The owners are equally cool, helpful, friendly, charming. Great local artwork adorns their walls and halls, quiet atmosphere, so close to attractions only needed to get out the car once from the parking lost half a block away. Felt safe and pampered and would come back in a heartbeat.

Talbot Heirs is warm, personal, friendly, charming, authentic. We chose room #7 because a single room, combination bedroom sitting room, suits us. We loved the colors and character and comfort. Paintings by local artists line the halls. The hosts, Tom and Sandy, were great, helpful, personable. The location is ideal. We used the kitchen in #7 to prepare our breakfasts.

Convenient parking was provided by Talbot Heirs at a reasonable cost in a parking structure about a block away; unlimited exit and re-entry.

Drove to Cooper-Union district for dinner at Restaurant Iris on a Friday night, best meal of a nineteen day trip. On Saturday took tram to Rizzo’s Diner for another excellent, casual dinner, followed by a blues show at Center for Southern Folklore a block and half from Talbot Heirs. Around midnight walked to Beale Street to see the throngs of revelers partying on the pedestrian-only street.

Where to stay: Talbot Heirs Guesthouse
Where to eat: Restaurant Iris, Rizzo’s Diner
What to see: Brooks Museum
Music Venue: Center for Southern Folklore

Room Tip: We had an opportunity to look at several rooms, they all looked appealing. Some rooms have a separat...

We spent 2 nights in Memphis on our road trip through the South - and stayed here over a busy weekend. Talbot Heirs is superbly located, in the heart of downtown, walking distance to Beale Street and other attractions, yet still fairly quiet. The accommodation was very spacious, comfortable and coolly decorated. Jerry and his wife are incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful - Jerry will even talk you in to the location, then rendezvous with you to then direct you to the local parking. We also got some great recommendations on restaurants and other things to do around the city (of which there are too many for one weekend!)
We had a superb time in Memphis - a great city - and Talbot Heirs really added to our experience.

We stopped at Memphis on the way from Chicago to NOLA on the train. We were there to visit Beale Street and Graceland/Sun Studio. Talbot Heirs was the perfect base--Graceland, Rock & Soul Museum, Gibson Guitar Factory, Beale Street, Sun Studio. Except for Graceland and Sun Studio, everything was within an easy walk of Talbot Heirs and a free bus is provided to Graceland from very close by Talbot Heirs. The suite was lovely - very spacious and well appointed. Lovely comfortable bed and very clean and quiet. There are some restaurants close by but one night we travelled out to Restaurant Iris and it was absolutely lovely. Would highly recommend a visit.

My wife and I spent a long weekend in Memphis. We took in all the standard tourist sites and Talbot Heirs was the perfect base--Graceland, Rock & Soul Museum, Gibson Guitar Factory, Beale Street, Sun Studio. Except for Graceland and Sun Studio, everything was within an easy walk of Talbot Heirs and we didn't have any trouble getting to Sun or Graceland on the free bus.
We stayed in Suite 2 and it enormous for a hotel suite. There was plenty of room to spread out and the room was very clean and quiet.
We opted not to rent a car for the weekend and didn't miss it a bit. We took a cab to and from the airport. We were able to walk to dinner and lunch each day at a different restaurant and enjoyed many of the fine restaturants that are close to TAlbot Heirs.
Had a fantastic meal a Flights on Main Street and loved the ambiance and southern atmosphere at the Blue Plate Cafe.
We will be back and there is no question we will stay again at the Talbot Heirs.

Room Tip: Suite 2 overlooks Second Street and is directly across from the Peabody Hotel. We did not notice an...

If you are tired of generic hotel chains and crave a unique, homey, small property..this is for you!
Centrally located and a walk to Beale Street, the guesthouse is run by a lovely couple, who are not only warm and welcoming, but have a host of ideas for eats and special sites not to be missed.Personal touches include breakfast goodies stocked, juice, water, tea, coffee, biscotti, oatmeal and cereal..we stayed in a very spacious suite, that even contained a piano, for those inclined.
It is true,as many have written, that this is a jewel..all in all, would return with gusto!

Room Tip: Select a room not facing the street, especially the sleeping quarters.

This is a wonderful unique place to stay. The guest rooms are funky, the art in the hallway very interesting and fun, and the help we got from Jerry planning where to go and how to get there was perfect. I cannot add to what others have said! All great reviews. We really appreciated the granola bars and coffee. Close to Beale Street, tram, Sun Studios bus. Great to park our car and leave it for the few days we spent in Memphis.

Room Tip: The smaller and therefore less expensive rooms (we were in #7) are still quite roomy and lovely , bu...
