My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights in June 2014. The apartments are exactly as described and we weren't disappointed. It was extremely helpful to have a fully equipped kitchen. We had been on the road for a while so it was really great to live almost as we do at home -- buy fresh food, make breakfast etc. On arriving we were given extremely good and helpful recommendations in terms of food, groceries and how to get to various places. This saved us a lot of messing around and was well beyond what we have received in most other hotels. There is no elevator and one set of stairs but we were met at the door and assisted with our luggage and Jerry then woke at 6am to help us out with our luggage and then waited until a taxi arrived to take us to the train station. This hotel is also very well located in terms of being central to many attractions. This is an excellent accommodation option with outstanding staff.

We stayed for 4 very comfortable nights at the Talbot Heirs. Tom is so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. This is a boutique hotel, the big chains don't have a patch on this place. I wish we'd stayed there longer, But we will be back!!

The rooms in Talbot Heirs look exactly as pictured. I assume this was once a small apartment complex that is now a small hotel. There is no elevator and rooms are upstairs so being able to walk steps is a must. The bed is comfortable, the rooms are clean. The cleaning lady is very friendly. Complimentary orange juice, milk, cereal, oatmeal, coffee, and a biscotti is in the room.
The location is right downtown, right across from the Peabody Hotel. You are walking distance to Beale street, as well as a few other things so the location is good. Memphis is hot and humid so it is great that the air conditioning works. Checking in and out is a bit cumbersome as there is no elevator and there is no onsite parking. Parking passes are available for an additional fee to a garage about 1 block away. Jerry, the manager meets you outside when you arrive and rides over to get you situated for parking and also helps you with your bags downstairs when leaving. The tube television shown in picture is indeed the one that will be in your room. It isn't super big so if you watch a lot of television and are used to something bigger and newer you have been warned. The hotel does not have any amenities like a pool or fitness center. They say you can use the ones at the Peabody or the Y for a reduced fee. I checked out the fitness center at the Peabody (pretty impressive) but they didn't seem to know about a reduction in fee. Could use it for $15 for 1 day or $30 for 3 days (I think). The Y said it would be $7 normally $10 if you brought identification and something showing where you were staying and if the hotel was recognized. I ended up not using either so I can't testify but using the Peabody's would be a lot more convenient.

After being met at the door by Jerry , who helped unload our luggage & he came with us in our car to show us where to park. After showing us to our rooms he then spent quite some time with a map of downtown Memphis highlighting different restaurants and points of interest .
This funky boutique hotel is minutes walk from most attractions and once you park your car you really don't need it till you leave.
The kitchen is stocked daily with milk , orange juice ,water , granola bars, cereal and oats.
There are a many great places close to eat and of course Beale street is only 2 blocks away.
If you are looking for somewhere other than a hotel room , I would highly recommend this establishment.
Thanks to Jerry for being a gracious host.

Southern hospitality personified without the accent best describes hosts Sandy and Tom of Talbot
Heirs Guesthouse.
Particularly comfortable accommodations with not a bad seat in the house. Had the opportunity to view almost every seat in every suite during a recent family reunion when couples from Chicago, Michigan, and Long Beach, practically took over Talbot Heirs.
Within walking distance of the best the Bluff City has to offer; the awesome Mississippi River (3 blocks), Peabody Hotel (across the street), Redbirds/Auto Zone Park (2 blocks), Grizzles/FedEx
Forum (3 blocks), great dining in every direction, and of course the street that makes the blues
in Memphis, Beale (two blocks). Well, shut my mouth!

We loved staying at the Talbot Heirs. Large rooms and suites all with kitchens. Fridges are stocked everyday with cereals, milk, OJ,water and coffee.Right in the action of downtown Memphis. A block from the Rendevous BBQ,, 2 blocks to Beale street. Located above the great Flying Fish low key restaurant. You may want to eat all your meals here. Tom & Sandy are friendly, gracious hosts. We had a cousins' reunion and took over the Talbot Heirs save for one room with a family from Switzerland. The main hall is lined with folk art also present in all the rooms. There's a piece of exercise equipment tucked away in a corner of every room. Ours #4 had an elliptical machine. You can check out every room in videos on their website. Hated to leave. A great place to stay in Memphis.

Room Tip: Check out rooms on their website. There are no bad rooms.

What a great place! Fantastic location right in the action in downtown Memphis. Unassuming entrance right next to the great "flying fish" low key restaurant. The place is funky to the max, but very clean, well appointed and very well thought out with everything you will need. Almost small apartments, with full kitchen, outside porch for breakfast, lots of space. Our hosts have provided the basics, coffee, breakfast things and even a biscotti for afternoon snack. Things are funky but function well and are of quality and as I say, clean. We felt this place was fairly perfect for our tastes and fairly priced. Stayed in room #5.
