A very clean and tidy hotel in a great location. Just a five minute walk to Beale St. There is a very large bedroom and two bathrooms, his ‘n’ hers! The only downside was that the pool was out of action as it was labor day.

We took a trip to Memphis to get away for a few days after our daughter's wedding. The Doubletree downtown Memphis was clean, staff was helpful and the downtown experience was great. We would recommend the hotel to anyone.

This hotel is directly across the street from the ball park and is walking distance to Beale Street. It's an older hotel that has been upgraded. The metal pool was interesting and nice. The staff was helpful and friendly.
The negatives were no complimentary breakfast, loud AC, and street noise. If I stay there again I will request an upper floor (higher than the 5th).

I travel through Memphis on business trips from time to time, and I always stay here at the Doubletree. From the valet on the way in to the valet on the way out, I have had nothing but good experiences here. Nothing says hello like warm cookies to take up to your room after a long day on the road. The hotel is quiet, and the view from the elevators are phenomenal. The lobby is classy and contemporary at the same time, and when its time to go, they have your car waiting.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms next to the elevators...the walls shake.

I stayed for 1 night here during a recent business trip.

Pros:
- its a nice hotel from the exterior, located right in downtown Memphis.
- The hotel is connected to the TGIF restaurant, whetre they also serve breakfast as part of the hotel. So this doubles up as a good place to eat.
- The front desk were friendly and the courteous.
- The rooms by themselves are average size with a decent sized bathroom. Nothing specacular but sifficient.
- The wifi was working well.

Cons:
- The hotel had sort of a deserted look and feel to it.
- The lighting in the room was a bit dim and could be much better. One of the lights kept coming on and off.

If you go, dont expect a five-star hotel but a hotel that is practical and i guess enough for a good nights stay in memphis.

On arrival we were given our room details, once we found our room we were greeted with the stale smell of cigarettes. Nice! We asked to be moved, the lady who assisted us advised that some hotel guests do tend to smoke in the rooms even though this is a non smoking hotel. The rooms are dingy and very dull. Browns and mustard yellow galore! The gym is small but adequate, location is perfect for Beale Street, only a 5 minute walk away. The swimming pool area lacks imagination and is not as advertised in the pictures on their website. A bit of music playing there would at least liven it up a little. Also advertised on their website is a coin operated laundry room. Again this is false information. They do not have a laundry room, only an overly expensive dry cleaning service. On arrival we requested a fridge for the room which took 2 days for them to provide. The fridge smelt of damp and didn't work. The breakfast was ok, apart from having to fight the flys. Over all, I would not stay in this hotel. Considering the price ($1000) for 8 days, I would rather pay the extra $500 and go to the Peabody next door!

Pluses: the location is great, the staff is friendly, the complimentary breakfast was great Minuses: unaware of the REQUIRED valet parking costining $22 per day, blinds in room didn't open and close without having to adjust each one manually, the AC wasn't working and it took a while for the handyman to get to the room - VERY HOT day - and even when the cooling was fixed only half of the vent was blowing air so it took a while to cool down the room, the pool is much smaller than expected and there is zero shade and zero privacy from surrounding buildings.
