“Have had better”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2013 via mobile

This is the second time I have been here and the first time it was so good I felt we had to come here again. Unfortunately, there was a set menu on and there wasn't that much choice. I went for the chicken liver parfait which was yummy but a bit too liquidated and then had the faggots, mash and peas. The mash was lumpy and dry and of the two faggots I had one of them was burnt and dry as a bone and the other one I couldn't really identify as being a faggot as it was flat, square and pink. Dessert was nice which was a sticky toffee pudding with creme anglaise. As it was only £10 for all 3 I felt as if I had had good value for money altogether but was just a bit disappointed as the standard seemed to have dropped since my last visit. It was very quiet in there too so you had to whisper or the other 2 patrons would hear every word! It's a shame this place seems to be struggling but they need to up the quality again if they want to fill seats!

“Good menu, large portions.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 June 2013

We were the only patrons in the restaurant, alhough there were others eating from the bar menu. The menu was very comprehensive with a wide choice. Ample portions, in fact more than we could eat. Because we were out on a limb there was a tendency for us to be forgotten by service personel. There is parking behind the hotel.

“Nice pub with good food”

I have always enjoyed this place for the value lunches and the reasonable wine. Always good service, and spotlessly clean.

“Has been better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 May 2013

Nice atmosphere. Large pub, with new owners. The room is clean, with leather lounge. the bar is really nice.
The meals would be top class for a pub. it's true for the prices quite expensive, but not for the quality / quantity. The chowder is good but so small without any presentation. Gammon steak does not worth 12 £. Same for the Stroganoff which is basic.
We were here 4 years ago, the cooking and meals were typically good pub food with lower prices. Much more valuable.

I would like to thank the staff and Manager , Andy, for the great service they provided on providing refreshments and food following a funeral recently.

Thank you Ena,

I am very pleased the day was satisfactory considering the circumstances. I am sure Teifion would have enjoyed too. On behalf of all the staff at the King's Head, we would like to say he will truly be missed, he was one of the great characters
