“Will come back again!”
Reviewed 22 December 2013 for a stay in October 2013

A late review for our second stay this year, May & October.

We just love this house & the surrounding area & we know we will be back again.

The dealings with regard to the booking were sorted easily & as usual Ralph was there to welcome us on our arrival.

The house is perfect for a family of four adults like us, or a family with children.

Lots to do in the surrounding area, & lovely places to eat too.

Can certainly say, if you are thinking of coming here then do so!

“Made very welcome in a very comfortable cottage”
Reviewed 3 December 2013 for a stay in December 2013

Cottage was easy to book and simple to find with the supplied directions. On our arrival we were made very welcome and given a detailed tour of the cottage alongside recommendations for our stay. The cottage was well equipped for all our needs including a good supply of dry logs for the well placed fire. As a group of seven adults it felt like we had plenty of space and an there was more than enough kitchen equipment for all our catering. The only negatives were the slightly dodgy shower heads and need to update some of the board games - although the table football more than made up for this!

“Lovely house - beautiful countryside”
Reviewed 15 November 2013 for a stay in November 2013

Arrived early and warmly greeted by 'Ralph' who took the time to explain the workings of the property. Lovely warm house in a beautiful wooded spot. Loved the design, especially the wet rooms attached to the two bedrooms. Comfortable beds and a kitchen with everything in place.
Wonderful walks straight from the front door and an abundance of wild life.

Will definitely pass on details to friends and family (or shall we keep it our secret !!)

“Beautiful & tranquil”
Reviewed 19 May 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Well we have just had a lovely week at the Lodge & cannot recommend it enough if you are thinking of staying in the Carmarthenshire/Brecon Beacons area. We received a great personal welcome from Ralph, who gave us a guided tour of the property & showed us how everything worked & it's a lovely touch to have a welcome pack with some local produce too. There is a largish Co-Op with good opening hours in Llandovery (approx 2 miles away) as well as an organic shop, bakery etc to stock up on your other items once you have unpacked. Of the local eateries I can recommend The Neuadd Fawr Arms in Cil-y-cwm for Sunday lunch & evening meals, also in Llandovery The Castle Hotel for evening meals & they have special theme evenings on a Tues/Weds night. .Breakfast out is great at the West End Cafe & Penygawse Tea Rooms as well. Sightseeing wise you cannot miss the scenery as it's all around you, however a trip up to Lyn Brianne Reservoir is worthwhile, plus the various routes over The Beacons are a must to see the various wonderful panoramic views. I can also recommend The National Botanic Garden of Wales & Aberglasney Gardens for a visit, along with the Dolcolathi Gold Mines. Going back to the house (as that's the important part of any holiday) it really is a home from home & beautifully clean. The beds are very comfy & the whole feel of the house is of a family home. Plenty to do on a wet day with the Table Football & board games supplied. Or just watch the various wildlife (feathered & furry, in the guise of squirrels) fight over the nuts & bird feed on the feeder, from the house! All in all a fantastic location & one we hope to stay in again soon!

“Henllys Lodge - Peaceful and relaxing”
Reviewed 5 August 2012 for a stay in July 2012

We booked a week at Henllys Lodge to relax and recover from work.

The lodge is a good size and extremely clean, with modern fittings and furniture. It has everything you need from recycling bags to an iPod dock, it's all there.

The kitchen is well stocked and large, although the fridge is surprisingly small. The living room is comfortable and feels spacious. The bedrooms are all fine and the bed was very comfortable, with a lovely mattress and duvet.

The best parts of the lodge are the location and garden. The lodge is on a quiet country road and the garden is peaceful and green. The birds are great to watch, we counted 12 types of bird on the feeders, and you can get very close to them which is great for photographs. The nuthatch seemed particularly unafraid.

The only negative about the lodge was that it is set to a constant temperature, which you can't adjust and I spent the week feeling constantly a bit too cold. The bathrooms were the worst, the heated towel rails dont work so the bathrooms were cold and the towels stayed damp throughout the week.

Overall it is a lovely place, very clean and comfortable, but I didn't relax as much as I have on other holidays. Maybe it was the pressure to match up to the Eco standards of the lodge.

We are sorry that the temperature at the Lodge was set too low for these guests. We haven't had a complaint before, but clearly some people will prefer it warmer than others. The system is quite complicated for guests to work, but it could easily, on request, have been adjusted to suit. The towel rails do work, but they come on when the heating comes on. We are having individual thermostats installed shortly in bedrooms, so this will allow for individual requirements to be met more easily.

Hennlys Lodge is absolutely an outstandingly comfortable, clean, and cosy holiday home!
It has been beautifully and efficiently restored from old into new and modern, with everything you need in it.
The best we stayed at during our holidays. And at a very reasonable price too.
And if you have very rainy days most of the days ,as we had, there is a lot of space, games and comfort inside.
We were with only two and had 3 bathrooms to choose from:-). Also lots of fresh towels!
The caretaker waits for you with A really big welcomebasket full of goodies.
The house is on a country road, but quiet at night.
The view beautiful , every evening there is a squirrel, lots of birds to watch from the kitchen, and you can go from the house for nice walks. All sorts of maps are provided. The surroundings are really very beautiful, and there are a lot of things to do.
Also loads of information in the lodge.Don't miss the red kite feeding!
In short thanks Lise for this lovely stay at your countryhouse!

“Amazing”
Reviewed 11 January 2012 for a stay in December 2011

On our arrival on a wet evening, we arrived at this amazing cottage which was everything we hoped it would be and more.. Secluded but not remote, warm, cosy eco friendly.
We were greeted with a warm welcome that even after a long drive from London we felt like we could settle in nicely. The kitchen is to be commended with all gadgets and necessities one could need. Then the warm fireplace in the living room where one can settle on the couch, or if you are like me on the rug on the floor and enjoy the fire while reading some of the guides available. This cottage is spacious and just wonderful.. After our first night I realised how well I had slept and looked forward to a nap.
I have not even mentioned the shower with its plate sized shower head. Very nice!
We wanted to stay a week and ended up extending for a few more days. The local town has many food shopping options and an organic shop too. My husband and I agree that its one of the best places we have stayed and we look forward to returning in the spring to enjoy the garden.
