“Good exercise, steep hillside”
Reviewed 11 May 2012

Pwllycrochan Woods separates the town from the housing estate at the top of the hill behind the town centre. It is within walking distance of the other Colwyn Bay attractions of the beach, Eirias Park, the town centre, the zoo, and the Pen Y Bryn pub, though you have to be pretty fit to do them all on foot in a day. The hillside is very steep, and although there is a lower path alongside the road it is probably not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs. New orientation boards have recently been installed and you can often hear woodpeckers. I've seen large birds of prey (buzzard) and foxes too. I often walk through these woods to go to town and back and the paths can be very muddy and slippy after rain. Although it only takes 15-20 mins to walk through you could spend a couple of hours max wandering around all the paths on both sides of the road.
