“Worth a Stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2010

A warm welcome. Good location in quiet residential street, Plentiful parking, in front of house and on the street. The room (no. 8) was spotlessly clean, large and comfortable with a well stocked refreshments tray and complimentary toiletries. Clean towels daily and beverage tray restocked. Breakfast room was bright and clean. Excellent offerings; fresh fruit, cereal, yogurts and full Welsh cooked breakfast options. Good presentation and very tasty bacon. Would also highly recommend the pub Pen Y Bryn well cooked, presented, delicious meals, fantastic puddings and great views towards the Little Orme.

My better half & myself were looking for somewhere to spend our anniversary together, a night away from the annoying small people (a.k.a. children!) & in a picturesque location.
This was booked last minute & budget-driven, so we were not expecting miracles. In fact we found a wonderful, pleasant, clean & very spacious guest house, on a quiet street only a short walk from the promenade & beaches. It is also within easy reach of many of North Wales' main attractions, the room was very clean, tidy, large & welcoming, the owner was very pleasant, informative & gave us a few pointers of local places to visit for entertainment etc.
The bed was very comfortable, the facilities & bathrooms excellent, and for £60 for a couple with a full 'welsh' breakfast (very tasty & filling) into the bargain it was a lovely, relaxing memorable stay.

This beautiful and traditional little gem should be kept quiet, but i enjoyed my stay so much, that i thought it unfair not to say how enjoyable the stay was.
From the moment of arrival, the treatment i received was delightful, i was shown to a lovely clean, tidy and large room, with an ample en-suite. The decor was modern, clean and suited its more traditional surrounds.
Its a short walk from the delightful promenade, which stretches from Colwyn to Ross. Its also only a short walk from the station (as i caught the train) there are no evening meals, but you certainly will not go hungry, as the many local eateries provide welcoming service and good food.
Breakfast it is said is the best meal of the day, it most certainly is here and i didn't need to eat again until well into the afternoon.
If only for one night, stay at this delightfull little abode in beautiful surrounds.

I come to Colwyn Bay quite often. I have stayed here before, but not since the renovations. I stayed probably in the same room as the previous review (front room, twin beds).
The room was spacious, clean, and the bathroom was fine with basic amentities such as shampoo, soap. In general B&B 's I have stayed in, in the UK, tend to be small, and pricey. This was not too expensive though. There is also free parking outside the front, and it is about a 10 minute walk into town, or you can get the bus to town, or to nearby Llandudo about 2 minute walk away, and there is a supermarket also within a minute.

Only 2 minor negatives I would say is, if you do happen to have noisy guests next to you, you would hear it (but this is the same in all B&B's I have experienced), and secondly, the smell of the breakfast can be smelt very strongly from the room (ie bacon , eggs, sausage smell!).

Overall, a very good value for money B&B with nice staff, and good breakfast.

  • Liked — Friendly staff
  • Disliked — Smell of breakfast wafting in, in the morning
