“Adequate”

Hotel was just acceptable for what we required, especially as we had our two dogs. The only issue we came across was the fact the shower didn't work properly. The place could do with a re-decorate and a bit of tlc.

Room 11 @ Lyndale was a bit like the room from hell!!!
Basically it sounded like everyone who either flushed their toilet or filled their bath got their water supply from above our bedroom. We spent the best part of the night listening to the sound of gushing water.
We went out for the day to Llandudno and the hotel was a last minute booking as we decided to stop out overnight.
The hotel itself is a bit dated in both decor and fixtures and fittings. It has a musty smell crossed with a sour smell which could be from years of Thai food aromas emanating from the Thai restaurant downstairs. It's not too kind on the nostrils and leaving the windows open in the hope of some fresh air is not a great idea as you are on a busy main road. So do you try to put up with the smell or do you put up with the sound of busy traffic?
The beds are not very comfortable at all and every movement cause creaks and groans from the bed itself. Both of us woke up this morning aching. Not a good sign at all.
The bathroom is basic. The shower doesn't even mount on the wall and what trickle of water you get from it dissipates the higher you raise the shower head. So you either get a bath or a wash at the sink. A wash is probably the better option as you only get a hand towel and small bath towel as complimentary offerings along with a tiny bar of soap.
Breakfast is classed a free. I myself chose scrambled egg on brown toast and was surprised when I received it with the crusts cut off. My partner had the full cooked breakfast. The sausages were extremely thin and not very tasty at all. Egg was overcooked so breakfast appeared extremely dry and there were no beans or tinned tomato. Only a half a grilled tomato. The toast was very pale (more like warm bread) and not that appetizing.
Any other time we book a stay at a hotel we usually go back to the room after breakfast pack and then go for a wander. Today we were packed and ready before breakfast and left straight after breakfast.
Not a good recommendation in my books!!
The proprietor, Michael, was a very welcoming man. Very friendly. But to be honest this, was the only thing this hotel had in its favour

We have just got back from a night at the Lyndale Hotel we were already in Wales and looking for a place to stay on a tight budget and at £60 Per night bed and breakfast for two it fitted the bill. We had a sea view room with double and single beds it was very clean and comfortable the owner was very friendly and made us feel welcome from the start. We ate at the Tamarind Thai restaurant which belongs to the hotel in the evening and the food was excellent and good value too. All in all a very nice stay .

Booked a last minute, one night stay via Booking.com. Never having been to the area we had no idea where to stay and also wanted to avoid the corporate chains so chose on the basis of the pictures, the price, a promise of sea views and the reviews which showed a satisfaction rating of 7.7. Perhaps I should have read the reviews more carefully or checked with Tripadvisor!
First impressions, outside looked ok, reception area, lounge & bar could do with some brighter colours but looked fine. The owner/manager was very friendly and helpful and checked us in without any fuss. The problem lies once you start the journey to your room. The corridor areas are very poor with odd bits of furniture that have seen better days, a huge cobweb in one corner and grubby net curtains which look as though they have been slashed – please take them down, the view cannot be worse than the curtains! Room 12 was very clean and the actual décor was in good order with an effort made to make it cheerful. The furniture was dire; a sort of poorly constructed work top arrangement acted as a shelf and desk, at best it required some varnish but to be honest I would remove and find a desk or dressing table. The bedside cupboards were the cheapest you could have bought in the 1980’s and the one chair was grubby and again needed a repair. The wardrobe was built in and very spacious but the spare z bed seemed unnecessary – there wouldn’t have been room to put it up. Bath with a shower attachment, it is so easy to add a holder and a shower curtain to give people an option of bath or shower. Again dated but clean. Light coloured curtains with no black out lining meant we woke with the sun. Bed linen and towels had been around some time, faded and thin. £100 spent in the summer sales and some imagination would correct all the problems in the room. Room was also very hot and as we were on the main road opening the window meant we got the noise of the traffic.
Breakfast was adequate; some tinned grapefruit & prunes, a good selection of cereals and a cooked option. My husband who is vegetarian (we had said this in advance) was a little disappointed; the waitress who was very nice, had no idea what to offer. I suggested everything that wasn’t meat which should have been eggs, mushroom, fried bread and tomato and also asked if there were any baked beans. No mushrooms but he did get baked beans, given they had opened a tin for him you might have thought the non-veggie might have got some to replace the missing mushrooms but no. The sausages were anaemic and very poor quality.
Plus points were, we only paid £59.00 so it wasn’t too hurtful to our pockets, staff were very friendly and the room was clean but everything else let the hotel down. The place has an air of something given up on and could be so nice with a little TLC and it wouldn’t cost much. Would recommend the Tamarind Restaurant which is part of the hotel, Thai food was brilliant and will review this separately.
