“Great little Zoo!!”
Reviewed 17 October 2010

Had a great time at this zoo in Oct 2010.

Its not very big but its actually a really nice place to go to. We spent about 3hours here, watched the 3 shows they hold (chimps, birds/penguins, sealions) and walked around the beautiful setting its in.

Lots of varieities of animals, and you can get really close to them unlike at some other bigger Zoo's.

Highlights were the chimps and sealions.

Animals looked well cared for and staff were friendly,

Shop was quiet pricey but thats to be expected i suppose... Got £1.50 off our total entrance cost with the "top ten attractions" leaflet that we picked up un Rhyl information centre.

Would defo return :o)

Thank Nikki A

“Great Meerkats - Simples”
Reviewed 30 August 2010

We visited the Welsh Mountain Zoo during our visit to North Wales. The weather wasn't the best, which put a slight damper on what is a perfectly formed zoo.

You pay on entry to the zoo, while still in your car - so to reduce delays have your cash/ credit card handy.

There was enough parking for our visit, with zoo staff on hand to guide you into your space. They also had a minibus that ran from the local train station for those without a car - which is a nice touch.

Being a compact site, you won't see the whole range of animals that you'll see in a larger zoo BUT there is plenty to see. My eldest daughter is a Meerkat fan and was delighted to see possibly the best Meerkat enclosure we have ever seen. The meerkats were all highly visible including the little baby one.

Some parts of the park - reptile house for example - could do with upgrading and I believe there are plans to do so.

Sealions were entertaining and there were demonstrations throughout the day.

Being a mountain Zoo, the zoo is located in a hilly location and although possible to push a pushchair/ wheel chair around some of the paths are quite steep.

The kids also enjoyed the play park that was quite extensive by the tiger enclosure.

Popped into the shop and found it to be reasonably priced - for the location.

The animals appeared to be happy and well cared for.

All in all, recommended for anybody in the area who wants to see some animals.

“Excellent zoo with well cared for animals”
Reviewed 2 June 2010

We're regular visitors to the Welsh Mountain zoo and my grandson has had the privilege of feeding the tigers, condors and seals.
The zoo is small so not overwhelming for young visitors or those of us who can't walk for miles. Some of the animal housing is not spacious but the animals are exceptionally well cared for by dedicated and knowledgeable staff who are very concerned with the welfare of their charges. The benefit of this is that you can see the animals quite closely and, unlike larger zoos, they are not in the distance.
Not to be missed are the seal training sessions and the delightful penguin parade. aaah!
Entrance fees are reasonable and staff are readily accessible for those with questions about the animals.
Altogether a lovely day out for families, top marks from us.

“Visited the zoo last week with my husband...”
Reviewed 12 April 2010

Visited the zoo last week with my husband and two daughters aged 12 and 6 and had a great day. We arrived around 11am and the cheery admission kiosk ladies were very helpful and informative £31.10 for a family of four which was a nice surprise. The views from the zoo are amazing, and we had a really enjoyable day we left at 430 and had seen everything just once. I think you get out of the zoo what you put in. The kids were full of questions the the keepers answered cheerfully and informatively spending time getting down to my 6 year olds level which I thought was ace. We all loved the penguin parade and the sea lion talk. I felt
unrushed and relaxed wandering around and the kids had a great time. Loved the car park being inside the zoo so you could nip
back to drop coats off when the sun came out. It was very windy so do take a fleece on the sunniest of days. It's a little gem and we will be going back later this year.

“Snow Leopards!”
Reviewed 9 April 2010

Seeing my first Snow Leopard would alone have made this visit worthwhile, but there were two more!!

The Arctic Fox however did not favour us with a viewing. Maybe next time ......
