My wife and I decided on an impromptu visit to Snowdonia with our dog and this place was recommended by another inn that was full (the owners were ex-regulars when they lived in the area)

The room (room 6) was a good size clean and very comfortable. It was nice to have dual aspect windows and we were very happy there.

It is also dog friendly so our spaniel was allowed to stay in the room with us and could have joined us in the pub if he wasn't so tired from running up and down the Snowdon Pyg Track all day!

The owners and staff were all very friendly and we were made to feel very very welcome. It's a perfect location for hiking in Snowdonia and very close to some lovely towns.

Beware following Google Maps to the hotel as we were taken over a rather narrow, minor road with a few tight turns and hills! Better to stick to the main road!

The food in the pub was very decent quality and we had no complaints.

Value for 2 nights stay, breakfast and 2 dinners was very very reasonable.

We will certainly be returning in the future and highly recommend it to others.

After 2 days on the hill with a Wild Camp at 650m in the rain we decided to head for shelter, a hot shower and a good meal. From the Ogwen Valley we headed (with a realistic sense of hope on a bank holiday Sunday!) to Capel Curig on the hunt for some last minute accommodation. Tyn-Y-Coed informed us they had a double B&B for £60 which seemed reasonable and we said yes - only to discover once bags were unpacked that was the single occupancy rate - for us both (not sure what they thought one of us might do instead?) was £95... punchy we thought, but we were exhausted and aware of it being a bank holiday and all....

Dinner was good and hearty and very welcome.

Room was comfy, if a little small - but it was above the drying room which meant we were kept up most of the night by de-humidifiers and machines on spin cycle.

Breakfast was again (considering the price) average at best - but what was most frustrating was that when we informed the owner/manager that we were a little surprised that that room above the drying room was priced the same as other rooms, we received an apology and that it was just a mistake the machines were left on - nothing else... I guess we just have to put this down to our bad luck? If the price hadn't been so considerable I think all of the above would have been brushed off the shoulder - but after spending £150 including dinner for one night distinctly average DBB it left a slightly sour taste.

Staff are friendly and jovial - pub grub (dinner) is good - as are the massaging showers - perhaps we just struck out on it not being their best day...

What can I say, have been climbing in Snowdonia for last 20 years, have always liked the Tyn Y Coed as a pub and a place to eat.

Getting bit old now for Youth Hostels so took the plunge and made a booking.

Included was Breakfast, which was better than we had been used to, and I would recommend the Welsh Breakfast.

Taking Breakfast into account, with our party of actually worked out cheaper than YHA.

Honestly couldn't fault it, free Wi Fi, on suite, warm room, good beer, good food, amazing staff, so friendly.

The owners have got there finished result so right is brilliant, could not find any negatives.

We will be back next year.

A little bit unsure when we pulled up out side as this hotel is on the roadside, but this proved not to be a problem, The welcome was excellent, The room very good. The real ales were spot on.
Looked at the menu which was basic but the specials that varied each night were very good.Had one small problem as we ran out of shower water but understand this was a short term supply problem. One reccomendation I would make is that the staff need to tidy up, dont like my beer served by some body with threedays worth of stubble and wearing a hoodie, but all in all well pleased

Room Tip: Try room 15

I've been using the Tyn-Y-Coed for more than 20 years. It is an excellent start & finish point for mountain weekends. You are assured of the warmest welcome, excellent beer, great bar meals and a kitchen that sympathizes with those who have dietary needs. There is a bus stop by the car park.

If you are staying in Snowdonia you need to look no further than the Tyn-Y. Excellent rooms, great meals, well-kept local ales and a very warm welcome from George, Jane, Mark and Helen. We are already booked for later in the year!

I have been staying here every year with friends for longer than I care to remember and have always had a warm welcome, a great pint, good food and a comfy room. I will be back in October 2014 with the crew for the next visit.
