“As splendid as ever!”

The beach is still truly as magnificent as it was in the 1950s ! Safe for bathing and splendid for children to play.

“Long Sandy Beach/ Burning Sand - Harlech Beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014

Harlech beach is secluded beach and you wouldn't know it was there unless you were looking for it. we drove past the turning first time as it just looked like a country lane with fields on either side. The mile long lane ends up in a car park and there are no amenities except some toilets.
You then have take a 15 minute walk along track through a golf course before you arrive at the beach. to get to the beach you have to go over a dune so the vista opens up suddenly before you.
We want on a hot week day and all we could see was miles and miles of (virtually) empty sandy beach. The tide was out so off came the shoes and socks and a walk to the sea. The sand was burning hot but it was relaxing.
The sea was cool and refreshing. We spent a lovely afternoon with the family. Take a picnic, trunks and enjoy, but treat it with respect.
Harlech Castle in the nearby town is also worth a visit and a world heritage site. if you haven't taken a picnic, worth going if only to have a meal, lovely restaurants and things to do.
A beauty spot that needs preserving and looking after.

“Excellent beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2014

Miles of sandy beach to walk along. Very clean and shallow for children to play safely. Not many people around on our two day visit even in sunny June. You need a car to get from Harlech to the beach as the hill back up to the town is too steep to walk up, but there is a decent car park with toilets.

we parked in the car park at harlech and although a long walk and sometime difficult terrain enjoyed our walk on this beach which is clean sandy and spectacular views to Snowdonia.
