This is the 2nd time I’ve visited here. Our friends have a caravan opposite and have taken us here. The 1st time was great. This time was super!! I went just with my best friend as we left the guys at home. Despite them having a series of mini power cuts, service resumed, stress free. We sat down to a wonderful meal with tentative staff. My friend really wanted the sea bass on the menu but isn’t a fan of capers which accompanied it. Our waiter went off to the kitchen to get her a sample to see what she thought... she loved it! What great service. All in all a fantastic night, great atmosphere, fabulous food and good wine to accompany our meal. Thank goodness for me I only live 6 miles away. I’m making this my local. Well done. Thanks for a lovely meal. See you soon.

Popped in for a quick pint after a long walk, barman more involved with friend/local at the end of the bar. Choice of 3 real ales, went for one of my favourites "Doom Bar", normally a good bet. Was sour and obviously not been checked recently, asked for a pint of cider instead as thought the other 2 maybe the same and the keg cider would be fine, it was! Barman was not happy as I had requested alternative, we drank up quickly and although I said goodbye, he chose to ignore me completely. Won't return, shame as they have made good job of refurb.
Bad attitude, I have probably drunk 20 pints of Doom Bar in the past month and this was by far the worst.

From first entering the hotel lobby we were greeted by friendly and efficient staff. One of the owners, Ian, checked us in, showed us to the room , explained the safety rules, fire escapes and where to find someone if there was an emergency in the night . Room 6 had a dual, aspect window, table and chairs, wonderful comfortable mattresses and pillows .
The restaurant was excellent . The menu not too large but covered the essentials with choices of beef, chicken , lamb , fish and vegetarian dishes . The roasted lamb, red wine jus, shepherds pie and minted greens was quite excellent and served very efficiently and politely by Rohan and other staff . The chef should be congratulated for a wonderful dish . The cheese platter was excellent And not overpowering. All in all a wonderful dinner at very reasonable price.
Breakfast in the morning was individually cooked and the cooked breakfast a great start to the day .
The hotel nestles below Harlech Castle which is a very impressive location. Although near the road we did not hear traffic noise .
Check out was efficient And Ian and Rohan very helpful when asking about local facilities and shops .
All in all a wonderful stay and Ian, Rohan, the staff and especially the chef should be congratulated for running such a great hotel and restaurant .Good luck in the future and I would certainly be back here And recommend the Y Branwen to my friends .

Great feel about the place - really friendly staff and some of the best food I’ve eaten - our room was very clean - minor criticism are the squeaky floorboards but they are refurbishing the upstairs soon - will definitely stay there again - thank you guys

Stayed in room 6 which was spacious and light having dual aspect windows. Two comfortable chairs and a table was good. Very comfortable bed. Had a great nights sleep and little noise from the road outside. Small but adequate bathroom with bath and shower over. Room was very clean and home made shortbread was a lovely touch in the room. Breakfast was good and freshly cooked to order. Staff were pleasant. The staff member serving breakfast on our first morning was so friendly and customer focused. Nothing was too much trouble and he really stood out from all the other staff. I know he was from Liverpool and was a credit to the place. We ate in the restaurant on one evening the food and service was good. In a convenient location with on site parking and a pleasant bar with good range of beers and wines.

Room tip: Room 6 very light and with a table and two chiars.
