We (husband me son and friend) have frequently stayed B & B at Maelgwyn House since 2006. We can only reiterate what others have said. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in or near Harlech because of the comfort, cleanliness, lovely food, beautiful views, superb décor, easy access to eating venues, fabulous works of art and Bridget and Derek who know how to take all the stress away from your everyday life.

We spent 3 wonderful days at Harlech, Wales. Arriving at Maelgqyn House, we immediately caught the very special and personal atmosphere of Bridget´s and Derek´s B&B: guests are welcomed by a huge number of well selected paintings and photographs, nice furniture, modern equipment and an INCREDIBLE VIEW from the room (no. 2). Not to mention that everything is perfectly clean.

A good selection of Welsh travel guides in various languages show the great hospitality.

But the highlight is the breakfast we very much enjoyed. Food prepared with love is simply the best!

Looking forward to the next trip to Harlech!

My wife and I have just returned from a short break in Harlech. We stayed at Maelgwyn House for four nights and can only say it was superb. Bridget and Derek made us feel like one of the family. We had room 1 with a view overlooking the castle and right from Snowdon and along the Lleyn Peninsula. The room was one of the best we have ever had in a B&B, with a kingsized bed, tea and coffee making facilities, plus there is a lounge on the first floor with plenty of books to read. There are DVDs which you can watch in your room also. Breakfast was one of the best ever, a full Welsh which set us up for the day, cereals and fruit are also available if you want something lighter. If you have toast - ask for 'holiday toast' - its actually white toast as most people seem to have brown at home, but when on holiday, let your hair down and have white. Derek stood chatting to us for quite a while at each breakfast telling us about the area including the Welsh Highland Railway to which he suggested we pay the extra and ride in the Pullman carriage. We had a standing joke with Derek when Snowdon would come out as it was in cloud until our last morning. We could not have picked a better B&B and will definately stay here again when we are in the area. We ate in local restaurants in the evening and never once had a bad meal. If you come to North Wales, then Maelgwyn House is the only place to stay.

Room Tip: Ask for either room 1 or 2, they have kingsize beds and look across the bay.

Booked this fantastic B and B back in January for our September 2013 break as the reviews were so good we didn't want to miss out. The wonderful welcome by Bridget and Derek was like being greeted by long-standing friends. In fact the stay at Maelgwyn was like being in a friend's lovely home. Books and CD's readily available should you need to get out of the rain. Eye watering views (no pun intended) , cleanliness beyond criticism and very comfortable beds. The breakfast was beautifully presented, ample and gorgeous. In short everything one could want and then a bit more. Other reviews have talked about outings.,Barmouth was an interesting place to visit outside summer season. Especially the bridge and the stunning sandy beach. Only one criticism: we never saw our lovely host in his kilt!

Room Tip: Front rooms have fantastic views over Harlech Castle and the sea.

A stay of one night, after a gap of what turned out to be more years than we'd guessed. We had a wonderful overnight here with my Australian cousins, taking the two rooms at the front of the house. We were rewarded with glorious evening and morning views of the coast, faultless hospitality and warm bonhomie. Thank you once again. We won't wait such a long time for our next visit.
