Great location, lovely hotel. Would definitely stay again even though the bedrooms are a little tired, the setting makes up for it. Stunning walking country off the beaten track.
Restaurant food is very special, the bar food is more standard stuff but the chance to chat with the friendly guests and staff.

Me and my wife booked to stay at The West Arms back in January on a Travel Zoo deal, DB&B standard room £79, under the presumption it would be just your average cheap one night deal. We were happily surprised to be proven wrong, from the moment we arrived (watch your mirrors on the drive in, the lanes are rather narrow in parts) the staff were both welcoming and very helpful. Our room was nice and comfortable for a standard room, however the only minor faults I could find in our break was the restricted view from our room (17) , and the room was a little stuffy as you could only open one window at a time and it was particularly warm that weekend. However this said, the room was immaculate and well furnished. The thing that set this hotel apart from many others we have stayed at was the quality of the food, all I can say is five star all the way for both the presentation and quality of the meals, the food really was exceptional. The hotel has plenty of snugs to chill out and read a book in or simply enjoy a drink .The gardens are both spacious and well kept and have the sun on them for the best part of the day. Wifi signal is great in the main bar and reception but weak to non elsewhere. To summarise if you are looking for somewhere to escape from it all get a bit of fresh air, read a book and eat fine food then this is the place for you.

Had a couple of nights at the West Arms and there is nothing not to like about it. From the moment we checked in the staff had always got a smile on their faces and were very professional and helpful. The quality of the food is fantastic it is so tasty and always presented nicely, we ate in the restaurant the first night and had a bar meal on the second and both were very tasty and the beer was nice as well.
Although to get to the hotel you drive down some narrow lanes it is worth it for the service and food that awaits you.

We stayed here for a weekend for an anniversary. We were based on a BB&EM basis. All was very good.
Our room was what you'd expect from a 16th century hotel. Authentic dark oak beams, window seat etc. The bathroom was clean and had everything you could need. Though if I were staying longer than a couple of nights I would prefer a shower to a bath with shower tap attachment. Though I was told by the proprietor they had recently had a plumber in to view the older rooms [like ours] to assess them for an upgrade]
Our evening meals were great, plenty of sumptuous choices, tasty and well presented. We noticed that the restaurant wasn't only used by the residents, people seemed to come from quite a way to sample the fayre. Breakfasts were also excellent with a good choice from cereals and porridge, toasts, yoghurts etc. as well as full English and haddock.
Rooms at the rear of the hotel have been recently upgraded and have a fresh upmarket look with sharp looking bathrooms with showers and modern white suites. They overlook a small courtyard and on to the countryside beyond. The bar and gardens are well frequented by locals and visitors alike.

Room Tip: Currently rooms at the back of the hotel are quite have have good views and better bathroom faciliti...

Like many reviewers we stayed at the West Arms Hotel courtesy of a two night travel zoo voucher that included dinner on one night. This was our second visit to Llanarmon, the first being 10 years ago when we stayed 'over the road'. Whilst the food was very good and the inn atmospheric with wonderful views and an inviting aura, our bed was very uncomfortable resulting in my having to take pain killers for backache one morning. I will return as other than the bed, I loved everything about the hotel but will ask for a divan bed in future.

This was a weekend break for myself and a friend. We chose The West Arms as a "get away from it all" few days and weren't disappointed. After a hilarious journey through the countryside due to AA routefinder taking us the "scenic route" we were greeted by a lovely young lady who quickly showed us our room before sorting us out with lunch.
The setting is beautiful and the beer garden provides super views of the surrounding countryside.
Our room was very comfortable with a modernised bathroom and separate shower cubicle.
We were on a Travelzoo deal and although a restricted menu for dinner, some good options and the quality of the food was excellent, as was the service.
Breakfast was equally as good and as we checked out we wished we had booked to stay for 2 nights!
I would recommend this charming hotel to anyone looking to escape, relax in lovely surroundings and enjoy good quality food.

OK, I have given this a 5 star based on what it is. A country inn with great local food, local beer, great service, gorgeous location. If you want a pool, games room, spa, gymnasium it is not what it is about. If it is relaxation, country walking, exploring the area that is different.

Room Tip: hey that's no good. My room might not be available next time!
