Make sure you wear comfortable shoes with grip, make sure you know where you are going, and bring some insect repelant, we went thr wrong way and ended up walking through a ton of flys that decided to follow us all the way to the top of the hill which kinda spoiled the walk. Bring cash for the car park £2. Suprising the amount of people who had to turn around because they didnt bring cash with them

Avoid the crowds and approach from Cilcain village. It's steeper but shorter and while you miss the ridge views icross the Vale of Clwyd you do experience a more physical work out. Not for young children though. Occasional halts en route and you can glance back over the R Dee towards The Wirral and Liverpool. Once at the summit, ridge walks open up to enjoy.
There is also a cosy pub in Clicain, good ale and satisfying food.

We spent a beautiful day walking the 'Mother Hill' and although 5 1/2 miles didn't sound too far, it certainly stretched the legs and lungs!

Ascending from the car park at Bwlch Penbarras following the Offa Dyke National Trail, it's a fairly steady climb, with just the last 200-300 meters getting sleep enough to get your lungs pumping. We descended east down a steep trail passing through forests and open fields till we reached the Moel Famau Country Park information board for a well earned cup of tea!

Final slog back the car park is a bit of a slog, but the views across the valley are well worth the hard work. Needless to say, we will be returning for another go - maybe we'll see you there!

Access is easy with a big car park, play area and toilets. Plenty of easy trails for walking, running and mountain biking. The bike route is tame except for a small section of single track and a steep downhill section, beware in bad weather! However there are a number of smaller trails and footpaths giving a great area to explore.

It's a big hill, you walk up it, it's great! Nice view from the top. Don't really know what else to say only writing cos they are making me use 100 characters.
