“Smelly carpet in corridors”
Reviewed 3 November 2013

Room was clean and tidy and satisfactory for our requirements. However the carpet in corridors and hallways very musty damp smelling and should be replaced. otherwise ok stay. You get what you pay for.

Thank you for your review Ian W. We are sorry to learn that there was a damp smell in the corridor during your stay, we would expect our staff to notice any unpleasant odors around the hotel and ensure the area is aired thoroughly. We will ensure to pass on your feedback to the hotel staff so that they can address this issue. Thank you for your feedback.

We stayed for two nights, as the cost was roughly the same as one night at the Travelodge in the centre of Chester. We wanted to go shopping in Chester, this hotel was only 10 minutes in the car from Chester Park & Ride, so was ideal for the price. The hotel was easy to find, the staff most attentive, offering the discount at the Little Chef next door, the breakfasts available, he also got me details of the Park & Ride, so good customer service. The hotel has just had a referbishment, so it was bright and clean, our room was large, clean, bright and not too not, as with lots of Travelodges I've stayed in. Everything worked, TV, kettle, lights, etc. There was plenty of hot water in the shower, and it was a nice powerful shower, which I liked. It was also nice and quiet during our stay. All in all a very nice stay and would definitely go back.

We read the reviews before we booked and thought they could not be all bad, But unfortunately most were not good. The TV did not work on BBC2 for four days and if you went to ITV1 you got an echo all the time unless you switched to subtitles which went across the screen. This was never sorted in our 10 day stay. we had to ask for clean bedding, have the carpet swept, ask for clean towels some of the time. You could not hear anything while the kettle was boiling, if you wanted a lie in, forget it with all the noise of loading and unloading at 7am. We have stayed in many Travelodges around the country, This is not good. It is due for an update we were told, not before time.

Our experience of this hotel was very positive. The girl at reception was very attentive and the room and bed were very comfortable. 10% discount was given at neighbouring Little Chef. Directions poor.

Wendy, the Receptionist that looked after our arrival was excellent, she went above & beyond the call of duty in that she went so far as to search our location on the internet when we were totally lost. Wendy called us on our mobile & gave concise directions to guide us to the hotel & then was totally welcoming when we arrived. The only one thing I would point out is that whilst 'Chester' is in the name of the Hotel, it is in fact just outside of Chester itself. Not far, but, far enough that you need your car!

Travelodges are great and economic places to stay when travelling from A to B and needing somewhere to sleep. This one is a refurbished version and it is noticeable. Newly decorated, and new furniture makes all the difference. The 2 chairs (instead of one) and 4 pillows (instead of 3) shows that they have finally given some thought to what might be required in a double room.
We arrived expecting the usual tired Travelodge and we were pleasantly surprised.
Location as usual is near the main road and a trip to a nearby town would be necessary for a meal, though there is a "Roadchef" next door. We enjoyed our stay here and we will look for the "newly refurbished" flag the next time we need a Travelodge.

Family room for 1 night stopover to South Wales. Kids beds were like bricks and one slept on the floor. No way to regulate temperature so the room was baking hot but too close to the road to open the windows. Bathroom smelt of wee but appeared clean. It was however only £58 for all of us so if you can put up with that then ok
