“Convenient accomodation”
Reviewed 25 July 2014

Apart from not being in the best of locations, it served our purpose well for a local family reunion. The accomodation had been upgraded so the room was clean and tidy and perfectly acceptable for three adults and one child, we all slept well and as the room faced to the rear so there was no traffic noise. Would certainly use again.

My husband and I were greeted upon our arrival by a very helpful and friendly team member, who also greeted us the following morning and again that same evening, when we had a good chat about the facilities on offer. She advised us that she would not be on duty when we checked out the following day, and hoped that we continued to enjoy our stay, and have a safe and pleasant journey home.

Stayed here for 2 nights at end of June for a wedding.
Check in was fine, young receptionist was polite and told us to come down on the Saturday morning if we wanted a taxi booked for the wedding we were attending later that afternoon.
Room was a very good size but was filthy! Bits of wear and tear don't bother me too much but I expect the room to be clean! Stains were everywhere from walls, tables, floors, windows, toilet to the chairs. most of the stains looked like a simple wipe with a damp cloth would have removed them but for some reason they hadn't been touched. They were clearly visible so I don't believe a cleaner could somehow miss them when 'cleaning'.
Went down on Saturday morning to book a taxi as advised previously and when I asked at reception for someone to phone a local taxi they refused and said 'taxi's aren't very good around here'! I told the girl we had a wedding to go to so she gave me 2 numbers to try. One was for a marketing company and the other was for a taxi company 20miles away! Found another member of staff who gave me another 3 numbers to try. He said we wouldn't get one as the races were on in Chester. Now, if the girl at reception had told us that on the Friday we would have pre-booked one then instead of the Saturday morning. I acknowledge the fact that we could have found out the races were on ourselves if we had been a bit more thorough in our planning but I would expect hotel staff with local knowledge to be able to make guests aware of this when talking about booking taxis on race day! Needless to say the 3 numbers I was given were useless, 2 were wrong numbers and the other one which was a local taxi company told us we would not get a taxi today!
Most(not all) of the staff were quite rude and always seemed pre-occupied. Perhaps they are understaffed but customer service should not be neglected regardless of other factors.
Other little bits of advice regarding location/facilities:
- Petrol station in the same location as hotel does not have a cash machine or cashback facility.
- Stating the obvious here but as the hotel is based on one of the motorway junctions you can not walk anywhere so morning stroll is out of the equation.
- Hotel offers free wifi but only for 30mins per 24hours and it starts from the second you set it up so once you access it, use it before you lose it! you can get extra wifi but you need to pay a few pound through paypal to secure this.
- Signal strength: I am on O2 and was able to make calls/send texts but could not access Internet without wifi. My wife and other family are all on EE and could not make or receive calls, only texting worked.
-Little Chef: if needs must and you are starving then by all means go ahead but definitely would not recommend. Decent menu, poor food, quite pricey for low quality, and remember to wipe your feet on the way out!!

I am completely disabled and in a wheelchair and stayed in a disabled room, the room was brilliant and big, but the bathroom should be a wet room with shower, as its very awkward trying to have a bath.

Stayed here for 2 nights at start of June visiting family in the local area. Couldn't fault the hotel, extremely clean and had a great nights sleep! Service was brilliant and was greeted by a happy smiling face when we checked in (think it was the manager). Overall I would rate travelodge very highly and was very impressed with my stay. Will be back soon!

Had a one night stay very clean and upgraded. We did ring from Ireland the day before to make sure they didn't re sell our room like last year as we would be checking in late. Only downside the rooms at front of hotel could do with triple glazing even with them closed the traffic noise from motorway was terrible even in middle of night so ask for a room at the back

Had a very pleasant stay at this Travelodge. Many thanks to a very helpful young man on reception. Lovely, modern, bright, well aired room. We stayed in very warm weather and on arrival our room was very welcoming and cool. Thank you so much. Everything we needed was there for us. I would definitely book again. Free parking was brill and we enjoyed the food we ate at the Little Chef next door, thank you.
