“A nice family site”
Reviewed 6 September 2012

We stayed over bank holiday weekend, the site is nice, open and flat. We had plenty of space for our 3 large tents and cars. The children had space to play in the middle of the site but there is no specific childrens area so while this was fine for us with kids I felt a bit sorry for the couple next to us who didnt have kids but had ours playing outside thier tent all day. The toilets are clean and well kept with shower gel and shampoo provided as well as hand sanitiser. The shower is £1 for 4 minutes. The owner was friendly and helpful, and although we saw him regularly patrolling the site during the evenings he was very pleasant (we sat up late every night playing cards and not particularly quietly!) It was a good hike to beach nearby but worth it for the clean sand and good waves.

Loved abesrsoch. Defo would go there again however would never stay at this campsite again. It was dissapointing having to pay to use the shower and hot water, four mins 1 pound . I needed 8 mins so did my daughter and partner. Had to wash our hands with cold water on a cold night. Campsite owner Is very regimated and was pacing up and down watchin us when we were enjoying a bbq. We would not recommend anyone stay at this site when they do not have to Pay additional charges at other campsites in abersoch. We also had limited space when it came to our pitch. We were so close to other campers we could here them talking and even snoring. We were also put next to the road which leAd to a couple of houses so when the bIn men drove past us it was so loud we cud feel the vibrations of the truck driving Past early hours in the morning.

we went in a van...at first we thought it would be quiet..but then a large group of people in tents arrived camping with loads of young kids..i appreciate their only kids and want to play ..but if your a couple wanting a quiet break then your going to find it hard cause the field is very small so theres no escape from footballs..also the showers are exspenive at £1 for 4mins..and the sinks have no hot water..so i for a family of 4 camping its dear if your there a week...

Penrhyn Camping Site is a smallish, functional, friendly and very well maintained camping/caravanning site just a couple of miles from Abersoch, Hells Mouth Beach (Porth Neigwl) and Porth Ceiriad. We found it an excellent base for our stay in the west of the LLyn and would definitely come back.

Everything campers need is at hand - good flat pitches (a relief, considering that many other campsites in this area are located on slopes), toilet/shower and washing up facilities. And, despite its size, there IS space for kids to play without disturbing other campers. Best of all, the walk to Porth Ceiriad takes just 10 minutes down quiet country lanes. So there's plenty to see and do nearby.

The owners were friendly and happy to help with our queries. And, contrary to the first review of this site, they tolerated our slightly noisy neighbours without a fuss... So, in the end, everyone was happy...

If you want an all singing, all dancing holiday park, with swimming pool, shop, playground etc, this probably isn't for you. But if you want a well located and well maintained site in the heart of West Wales' best holiday area, you could certainly do a lot worse than stay at Penrhyn.

Stayed at site same weekend. Only noise problem came from the ' young professionals', whose language left a lot to be desired too !!

The campsite is well run by the owner & family who are very friendly and helpful. Everyone who stays here are treated very, very well. The facilites are immaculate.

We were quite offended by this group of peoples behavour at the time and even more so with the commnets that they have now posted.

There is an area where games are played, we play football etc when we stay. These 'young professionals' had oppurtunity to do so too without impedement.

We have just stayed there again this weekend and plan to stay as much as we can until the season ends.

After searching for a long time to find a campsite that would take a group of young professionals, I finally came across a campsite that said we welcome young people and groups. I couldnt find any reviews of the campsite, so decided to go ahead and book the weekend.

When the first of the group arrived, the campsite was instantly abrupt and rude about where to park the car. The driver of the car politely explained that they had only just arrived and there were no signs explaining where to park so he had just pulled up. This was the start of an awful experience at the campsite.

The campsite was not a large field as it had looked in the photos, it was like being in the owners back garden. Everybody was cramped so tightly together!

Then it was later in the evening when me and my partner arrived! Upon arrival, I learned that the owner of the campsite had been extremely abrupt with other members of the group and 2 of them had gone up to the house to complain about the facilities. We then decided to try to get on with the evening as best we could.

We lit the disposables bbq that we had brought to cook food on (we had previously checked if these were okay to use and was told they were allowed). At exactly 10 o'clock (30 minutes after they were lit), the campsite owner walked over, with no prior warning, and threw a bucket of water all over the BBQ, the food was ruined and we had nothing to cook on and no food to eat. So we had to go without eating even though everyone had been working all day and was hungry. We expressed our concerns and the owner basically said it was his campsite and his rules and that it was tough!

Still determined to enjoy the evening we were all sat in a circle having a few drinks and chatting. I understand that groups can sometimes be loud but I would just like to make it clear that we were sat in a circle chatting and not running round the campsite disturbing other people, we would not have done that. We are a group of young professionals all with careers to protect. At 11 o'clock the owner came over and told us to go to bed as there was to be no noise at all after 11 o'clock. We calmly tried to explain that they had advertised the campsite for young people and that is why we chose to stay, the noise was not excessive as we were just chatting and he couldn't expect silence (this was the same for every group on the campsite). The owner was aggressive and rude. When we didn't go to bed the owners wife and son came out of the house.

His wife started to hurl abuse at the guests (again not just our group) and really upset a few members of the group with the personal insults she was throwing about. She then tried to rip up peoples tent. Bearing in mind this was all before midnight. In the end with the night already being spoilt we decided just to go to bed. The owner patrolled the campsite until half past 5 to make sure nobody left their tents, and he shouted at you if you left your tent to go to the toilet! So upset with the way we were treated 5 members of the group left the next day even though they had paid for 2 nights.

During the day wasn't much better as all the males on the campsite (including the children from the caravan family section) had a huge game of football. This was soon stopped though by the owner. It was an absolute disgrace.

I cannot believe the amount of money we spent on such an awful weekend. The whole campsite was united in the fact that the owners behaviour was disgusting (including the families). I would not recommend for anyone to stay here as it is not friendly and gives the beautiful place that is Abersoch a bad name. I hope that people get to read this review as I would not wish this awful experience on anybody.

Thanks to this group of individiuals we have decided not to have groups on to the site, whitch is a shame, because we have had some very nice groups on in the past. If they call themselves young professionals, well it deos not leave much hope for the rest of us. I could go on and on but will not bring myself down to their level.
