“Very good overall - no problems.”
Reviewed 28 August 2007

We booked over the phone and the lady was very helpful. Well located hotel with an easy going atmosphere (don’t expect to get shown your room or get your bags carried!), which is set back from the main road with plenty of parking and a pleasant patio/garden for outside eating/drinking. The two rooms we used (rooms 1 and 3) appeared to have been recently redecorated with new bathrooms, one of which was very small with no bath (room 1). Room 3 is only just suitable for a family of 3 (little floor space) so don't take this as a family room unless you are offered a good rate. Room 3 has a limited seaview overlooking the main rd and a rather nice house. My bed (Room 1) was really comfortable with nice white bedding. Room 1 looks at the car park. The shower head swivels in both rooms were broken meaning you had to hold it whilst trying to scrub off the sand. Not a big deal I guess but something simple that could have been fixed easily prior to arrival. Take a Philips screwdriver and you can DIY. The breakfast was very good with fresh strawberries, decent bacon/sausages and nice filter coffee – although we had to give the waitress some encouragement and there was dreadful background music being played (they turned it off when we asked). There are a selection of board games, videos (which can be played in your rooms) and books. It has a basic restaurant, which was mainly being used by families with young children who might not want to travel down to some of the more busy places in the village. The pizzas were very nice but the other meals our friends had were not, although we did arrive at the restaurant at closing time. We payed £90 per room per night based on two sharing. .

We stayed here for one night and I was glad it wasn't longer! I totally agree with the previous review - the room was small, tired and dated and the bathroom was about the smallest I have ever seen with an awful shower that was tiny and luke warm.

The welcome we received was really poor. We rung the bell and a girl came out. I said I had a room booked and my name, she pointed at a small board behind the desk that had names and numbers written on it, said 'the key's in the room' and walked off!! I had to call after her to ask where the room was!

When we booked the room many months before we had paid a £50 deposit. But when we went to pay we were told we owed the full £80 and that a deposit hadn't been taken. I was very insistant that it had and so it didn't escalate into an argument. I'm sure it was an honest mistake, but could have easily paid too much because the owners were totally disorganised.

Certainly not what it says on the website! It is not a restaurant with rooms as there is no restaurant at all. Very tired and shabby looking B&B. Our room was exceptionally small with the worst shower room I have ever had to use, never been touched since early eighties and not as clean as i would have liked. The charge was £80 per night which is well over priced for the standard of accomodation.
Had we booked for longer we wouldn't have stayed. Unfortunatly all local hotels and B&Bs were fully booked.
Breakfast was the best bit!
