“Great value - lots to do and fab house”
Reviewed 27 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We had a long weekend (Friday to Tuesday) with a group of friends (7 of us - 2 girls 5 guys). We had amazing weather which was wonderful - Visted Powis Castle on the way - House has modern kitchen and plenty of space for our large group. Great outside seating area which we used every night and on site barbecue - Spent all our time outside walking/cycling. This will definitely be an annual event now - Clear communication from the home owner and we did see the house keeper. Top notch self catering place

Yes, so much to do in the area and stunning walks even from the garden gate up in to the forests and mountains or even find the hidden lake! I hope you walked across the estuary to The George The Third pub with its beautiful riverside location and feed the ducks and swans and a varied menu.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and would love to welcome you back. Perhaps try the autumn as the colours on the hills and in the forests are gorgeous then.

“Great house, great location and stunning views”
Reviewed 21 April 2015 for a stay in March 2015

A great find between Dogellau and Barmouth. Have been several times with family and friends - the house soaks up large numbers easily and with the added bonus of three bathrooms and plenty of hot water! Since we first visited, the house has been extended and updated to provide a great living area inside, and a patio which makes the most of the wonderful views of the estuary. It is a walkers paradise straight from the front door, equally a short drive and you are in Dogellau or on the beaches of Barmouth. The owners obviously have thought carefully about people's needs - the layout of the bedrooms gives quite a bit of privacy, there are ground floor bedrooms for the grandparents, games for the children, a huge TV and a kitchen to die for... and dogs are welcome too.

We are glad you liked the refurbishment and extension. We think it really works well now for large groups with the open plan layout but similarly we have couples or groups of 4 who come and just use the downstairs so it doesn't feel too big for them either.

“Stunning views,amazing location”
Reviewed 7 January 2015 for a stay in December 2014

Ar y Graig commands the most amazing position on a rugged hillside within Snowdonia National park. The huge picture windows look out over the Mawddach estuary to the majestic Cader mountain range. The house itself has recently been re furbished and we all enjoyed the stylish re- modelled kitchen.
We stayed over the New Year so it was lovely to have an open fire to cheer us;although the house was very cosy anyway.

The driveway is somewhat steep but the reward is the feeling of being 'on top of the world' once you reach the top.
We had rented Ar y Graig and another property in the vicinity for a big family get together. We were more than able to entertain the 2 households ( 11 adults and 6 children in the lovely open plan ground floor of Ar y Graig( we did return to second property to sleep!)

“Wonderful house, location and views”
Reviewed 13 May 2014 for a stay in April 2014

I stayed here with friends recently and couldn't find a single fault. The south facing outdoor patio area is probably the best thing about the house, with garden ratten furniture for plently of people to sit around and views of cader & the estuary. In terms of the location, there is more than enough within a 30 minute driving radius to keep you entertained for weeks. We spent most of our time at Coed y Brenin doing mountain biking and hiking. Its definitely the best bike park I've ever been too, and its got loads of sections for family riding, beginner riding etc. There's a good bike hire shop, cafe, and a go ape.

In terms of the house, the showers are top notch, the house is spotless, and there is every type of kitchen utensil and appliance you could possibly think of. There's lots of space for clothes etc, and the beds are super comfy.

If there's one thing I could recommend, it would be to go to the blue lake at Fairbourne. Go for a swim!

“Amazing location and Views”
Reviewed 23 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

Myself and 6 friends stayed for birthday weekend at the start of September. The group had an amazing time over the 3 days and the weather was great given the bad forecast (allowed us to take advantage of the beautiful patio furniture and take in the breathtaking views) We were little skeptical about the inside of the house given the lack of pictures online, on arrival we were pleasantly surprised. The house is bigger than expected with a large kitchen and dining area in the living room, the rooms were spacious and patio area and the garden at the back were made for a hot summers day, views from the garden/lounge are brilliant and this 60s style cottage offered a cosy homely feel. Joy (the owner) txt on arrival to ensure everything was what we expected, we had no reason to contact her throughout the rest of our stay.

There is plenty of walking to be had and the local town or beach are only a 15 minute car ride away. Overall we all had an amazing stay at the Ar y Graig (on the rock) and would recommend the cottage highly to either a large group or family.
