“Not up to its usual standard”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

Have eaten here numerous times over the last 7 years, but this time felt that standards were slipping. Food was a bit dry & over cooked, & the place was not particularly clean. Waited half an hour for dessert which was not what we ordered when it finally turned up. Reasonably priced, & we will no doubt give it the benefit of the doubt & try again, as it has always previously been excellent.

“A very enjoyable dining experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2014

We had a three course meal here. Very nice setting overlooking the sea. The service was excellent and we were not rushed. I had the sea bass which was delicious and my husband had the lamb henry which he really enjoyed. Quite expensive but well worth it and we had a nice cocktail in the bar beforehand!

“Poor Quality Insipid Food - Vegetarians Avoid”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2014

Who is said - always judge a restaurant by the quality of their vegetables and the variety of their vegetarian food.

This establishment registers zero on both counts. Having had a main meal of chicken and fish the previous two evenings I was looking forward to a hearty vegetarian option to feed a hungry stomach. The choice was poor and I opted for a fancy French labeled dish that turned out to be burnt cheese on toast. The accompanying vegetables were boring boiled specimens - and it wasn't cheap.

Having sent it back I opted for tuna steak - this was burnt on the outside and raw in the centre and smothered in a vinaigrette and the same boring veg.

Most of the other meals within our party were good, however this was for meat eaters.

The waitress was apologetic and no charge was applied for my meal and further reductions ensued.

Beware if you are looking for interesting and exciting food at reasonable cost.

“Great food, lovely views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2014

This is the second time we have eaten here,we booked both times and they gave us a lovely table overlooking the sea and castle. The menu is exciting and varied, well cooked and delicious. The hotel decor is attractive, warm and friendly. Look forward to our next visit.

“Lovely place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2014

Booked here after going past it during the day time. Nice bar area to sit and wait or relax after your meal. Service very good, mix up over our vegetables not arriving with the mains so this meant the quality of the meal deteriorated as we waited but this was deducted from the bill by way of apology. Would recommend as everything else is lovely.
