I would love to review the food at Granville's but didn't actually get the chance to eat there.
I visited with my partner at 7.45 on a very quiet sunday evening. There were about 6 other diners. As we approached the two waitresses, they appeared to be puzzled as to why we were there in the first place. We stated the obvious for them and requested a table - one of the waitresses told us in a sullen tone that the chef had probably "packed his things away" and we were too late. One of the women offered to go and ask the chef. She was gone for several minutes during which the other waitress made no attempt at friendliness and clearly has no concept that she is part of the service industry.
We didn't even bother waiting to see if the chef could accommodate us. There is surely nothing worse than a restaurant who seem to think they are doing YOU the favour by just being there.

We ended up going to The Lion hotel just across the road and received a very warm welcome and high quality food.

Everything about Granville's is nice, the staff, the food, the atmosphere, the other patrons, it was just a lovely evening.
The vegetarian options may have been few and far between but what was on offer was delicious.

We have been eating here regularly for at least 8 years and I can sincerely say that we have never had one poor course in all our visits. There is always a warm welcome & the service is friendly without being OTT.
The food is always well prepared, with a wide variety for example nice combination of locally sourced meats with a Mediterranean twist. One of my all time favourite dishes anywhere was seabass with roasted vegetables.
We normally go for the set menu and at around £17 for 3 excellent courses you can't go wrong.
The thing that makes it #1 for me is that rare thing: consistency.

Every year whilst visiting family in North Wales we visit Granvilles, and have been doing for over 12 years and we have never been disappointed.
The food is of a very high quality, the atmosphere is warm and friendly, good choices and lovely children's menu.
Would highly recommend this restaurant ideal for any occasion. Staff very friendly and welcoming.
