We have just returned home after spending a long weekend at the Bron Eifion Hotel - or maybe Stately Home. We always make a point of staying in Best Western Hotels as we have only once been disappointed. However, this beautiful, historic and relaxing hotel is something else. The owner was very friendly and genuinely interested in making sure we were comfortable
and happy during our stay. The staff were very friendly and professional. The food was more than plentiful and adventurous- be prepared to wait for your meal after placing your order, it will be worth it. The grounds are simply stunning with all kinds of wildbirds putting in an appearance. You even get views of the sea from the terrace/veranda. We are now planning to return for a winter break.

Picked this hotel on the basis of the other reviews. When we arrived a very brisk check-in from (I assume) the owner. No offer to help with bags and (considering the place was nearly empty) put us in the smallest room they could find. No air conditioning in the room which wasn;t good considering the heat the week we went. Had a real "fawlty towers" experience with wrong table numbers at breakfast ! Didn;t have dinner as it looked very expensive - luckily there are at least 3 excellent restaurants in the nearby (1 mile walk) town of Cricieth. All in this was most expensive hotel we stopped in during a tour of Wales and was the least impressive.

We have just returned from a fantastic stay at the Bron Eifion hotel in Criccieth. It was a little break away before our wedding day, just to chill out and relax a bit before the mad panic sets in ......

Didnt do any research on wales itself as it was a last minute decision to head off for the bank holiday weekend.... What a find it was ....... The hotel is old as in old fashioned decor, its like a statley home so to speak ,the furniture is old with the reds and golds, the ceiling is fantasic in the main lounge area its really high with wooden beams, very nice indeed.

We stayed in room 14, nice big and clean room, it was however on the 3rd floor, so if you are not in favour of doing stairs, I suggest you say that at the time off booking as there is no elevator....On friday nite we didnt get to the hotel untill 11pm , we were greeted by Graem, he was so pleasant and very helpful throughout our stay. Barbra the head Receptionest was so good to us also ,she gave us some very good tips on where to go and places to see...........By the way Graem and Barbra are husband and wife... not many guest know that , well we didnt until we said how great Graem was and she let it slip... that they were married 40yrs this year... WoW

The Breakfast was lovely it was the usual cereal, fruit with juices .... your order was taken at the table they had a great choice .... The waiting staff were really lovely so down to earth but yet very professional.

We had dinner at the hotel on sunday and it was georgeous, despite the wait .it was worth it... We booked dinner for 7.30pm , we arrived down to the lounge and were given the menus.... they have an a la carte but they also have a fixed menu of the day, which is a good bit cheaper than the hotel menu.... . Our wine was selected and our dishes orderded we just sat and waited...... at around 8.10pm the waiter came and told us our table was ready , we went into the dinning room which is lovely and our wine was corked and waiting for us on the table .. the starter arrived quite quickly and it was great.... however there was a good wait after that for our main course.... the staff were nice about it they did apologies about the delay, to be fair we had our wine and the lovely romantic music in the background..... so it wasnt too bad a wait. When the mains did arrive it was worth the wait ...................The sweet trolley was great they had so much to choose from.. and the cheese was really good....all in all we had a very lovely evening.....

The whole weekend was a great stay , I have stayed in many hotels in my time as cabin crew, and to be honest it was a real change to stay at Bron Eifion. It felt like it was my home not like I was a visitor in someone elses as it usually does......

On the negative side which is not that bad the hotel is located a little bit from the town so its not the case that you could walk into the village and go for a drink as such...to be fair there is not a lot to choose from in the village... which is why perhaps the locals dine at Bron Eifion when ever they can

Hope this is off help to you.....

A lovely hotel in a superb situation just on the outskirts of Criccieth. Public rooms and grounds excellent and views out towards the sea, fantastic. Bedrooms of varying shapes and sizes as you would expect in an old building, far preferable to so many city centre, modern, standard boxes. Our bedroom was large with a nice bathroom with shower over and a 6 foot bed. We had dinner and it was excellent and the wine list was exceedingly fair priced. Friendly staff, log fires, nice food, beautiful views, lovely situation. Would we stay again, can't wait!

This hotel is a good location for basing oneself for a driving holiday in the north west of Wales.

The hotel has beautiful public areas, and a lovely dining room. I only ate here at breakfast which was great - excellent food and service.

The room I had was adequate and comfortable though not large (I was booked into a single room). The only drawback to it was that it was on the top floor and getting bags up the two flights of stairs gave me quite a workout!

I Would definitely stay there again.

This hotel is absolutely gorgeous and the staff were really friendly and helpful, (especially to our 8 month old son), during our short stay. We enjoyed a bed&breakfast and evening meal package, and were very impressed with the food served for dinner, (eg. Welsh lamb, lemon sole with banana & curry sauce, duck with kumquat, pear and whisky tarte etc)
The location is fantastic with views over the sea, and the public rooms are superb with an ornate minstrels gallery as you walk into the hotel.

Our room (#9) was a great size (=big!) and felt incredibly homely. The only reason I've knocked off 1 star is that our bathroom was a little dated (although it was spotlessley clean). [1970's avacado green suite with brown walls and a shower head that needed de-scaling]. This, though was genuinely minor in the grand scheme of things, and I would thoroughly recommend, (and look forward to revisiting), this great hotel.
