“The castle with best views!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 October 2011

I had a great day out at Criccieth Castle. The sun was out and I could see the Snowdonia mountains to my left and the beaches of Llyn Peninsula to my right. The castle is in a fantastic location for people who like photographing breathtaking views.

When you are up on the hill overlooking Criccieth you can understand why the Welsh and then the English built a castle here. The castle itself is mostly a ruin, However, with the two towers still standing you can just imagine what it was like.

I would recommend seeing Criccieth Castle either for the views or the history.

“best views ever”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2011

The views over Cardigan Bay were fabulous. We could have soaked up the views for a long time. The castle was in ruins but sill interesting to climb the towers and imagine these walls were built so long ago. There was a bit of a walk from the car park but not bad

“Criccieth Castle is a Must-See for history lovers”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2010

Criccieth castle is a perfect place to visit if you are at all interested in Welsh history. The castle sits high over the town and the bay. The views are beautiful, and the tourist shop/museum attendants were great fun. While there, I would spend an hour or so in town. I'd also allocate about an hour to see the castle ruins. I've written several articles on Wales and travel there at www.DivorceYourTravelAgent.com

“Fantastic little ruin”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 May 2007

Came about this one quite by accident, it wasn't on our list of all the big ones one simply has to see on a trip to Wales. But what gem! A bit of a steep path with steps to get up to it but well worth the effort. Nice little museum in the visitors center as well with a fun animated movie about Gerald of Wales. Clean restrooms. Add it to your list of "must-sees", you won't be disappointed.
