Where do i begin arrived the Manager came to greet us on our coach very rudley told some to sit down spoke a few words (not a welcoming speach) went to my room opend the door the damp hit you and the smell oh well i thought it was so small opened the bathroom door it hit the wall on doing so where was the shower behind the door ok scaffolding at window must have had water leaking into the bedroom hence the smell (low powered bulbs had a job to see ) about to go down to ask for another room all the lights went out( lucky i always take a torch with me ) via the grape vine from other people discovered we had a power cut anoth couple on my floor problems with ther room and refused tostey in itI went to reception but was told they could nothing that night would change my room the next day we got dinne at 8.15 pm my room was so damp my camera the next morning steamed up and would not come on belive me it was a very damp room also the cover on the bed we very dirty got my room changed the next day it was like going from aslum to a palace i was given a room in the new part of the Hotel ( by the way they are the rooms advisertised on the web site Also the people on the 3rd floor had no heating on there floor

Breakfast was good but the evening meal was at times not edible all processed meat and frozen veg we found out the Chef had walkrd Monday nightbut it would still have been the same food

The Manager did not once all through the 5 days give us an apology theor come ito the dining room once to see if everything was ok the staff were very nice and did a good job

One last thing which i was very insensate about i bought a poppy from reception the receptions said sorry there were no pins a voice from the back said they send the poppys no pins but expect our money THE MANAGER

On saying all this we had a great holiday our group leader has taken us on many holidays and we always have great time this is the worse HOTEL we have ever had Ilook forward to our trip next year needless to say it will not be t this hotel

Room Tip: Ask to put in the New Part

First class staff- with a very professional manager at the helm.

Lovely room with excellent bathroom facilities- only downside was our mattress which was too soft for us!

Entertainment started with a game of bingo- which could only have been bettered with a more serious bingo caller!

Otherwise entertainment was quite good of an evening- otherwise question sheets in afternoon became a little wearing and drawing on balloons and decorating someone with christmas lights and glitter for the crowds entertainment a little insulting to the intelligence of the age groups that were there - and a little undermining to say the least!
I felt that one certainly needed a rethink!,

But overall the staff really worked hard here and made this hotel a very enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: I was on first floor, and did not have a good view of anything- but room could not be faulted otherwise.

This hotel situated on the main high street is a grade two listed building but the standard is first class Rooms at the front claim a sea view (over the roof tops) and castle view (through the tree tops ) Some noise from the traffic but Criccieth closes at eight p.m.!
The hotel appears to be in the throes of a major referb our room 217 had all new furniture a state of the art shower and all that is needed is redecoration and modern pictures to complete a very comfortable room. The food was good served on hot plates by very friendly staff nothing was too much trouble if you wished to slightly alter the very varied menu. This was set out on a weekly basis so you had plenty of time to adjust your meals during the day in order not to clash with the excellent four course dinner.Reception staff very good always ready to consult the computer if their local knowledge was not sufficient. A good location for touring Snowdonia .Nine person modern lift.

Room Tip: Second floor front

We stayed at this hotel for the nights of Friday and Saturday 6th and 7th September. I have upgraded to a Castle View Room, which I was really pleased we did as the view was very nice, even though you are on the main street through Criccieth. Very large room and bathroom, with both a bath and separate shower. The room and bathroom were very clean. The room could have had a couple of comfy chairs. The tv was a bit out of the ark, but then this room had not been refurbished.

The only problem we had was that breakfast was served between 8.00 and 9.00 a bit early when you are on holiday. This is probably due to the fact that they mostly have tour parties of senior citizens in, and as we all know old folk like to eat at set times.

Taken this into account we had a very enjoyable stay at the George IV.

Room Tip: As for a Castle View Room
