“Great little B&B, will definitely visit again.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2011

Dolgun Uchaf is an odd little B&B off the beaten track just a couple of minutes drive from the town of Dolgellau.
We had room 8 and after paying for what we thought would be a double room with ensuite, we were very surprised and delighted to get our own little apartment.
Narrow stairs, from our own front door, led up to an open plan lounge/kitchen. There is a fridge, cooker, sink, dishwasher and plenty of cupboard space. A two seater leather look cream sofa and a large TV.
The bathroom has a fabulous shower, shaving point and shaving mirror.
The bedroom is small but with the rest of the apartment, it doesn't need to be big. There is ample hanging space and shelves in the built in cupboard, and I would find it difficult to remember a more comfortable bed. I slept like a log all 3 nights that we stayed. The pillows are soft but supportive, the duvet is warm and the bedding was crisp white linen.
We cooked on the first night, cutlery and crockery and a few cooking utensils are provided.
Breakfast is served within quite a small time frame, 8am until 9.15am, and taken in the main part of the house. Plenty of choice for cereal, full english breakfast and toast, tea/coffee plus muffins.
There's plenty of parking space and the B&B also runs a campsite on the fields attached but we had no problems with noise from the campers.
My partner and I stayed for 3 nights and loved it.
P.S. Only tiny problem was that although there is a Sky box under the tv and it comes up as Sky, there are only a limited amount of freeview channels available.

Room Tip: If you want the little apartment, ask for room 8.

Have just returned from a night in Dolgun Uchaf B&B and would not rate our room as 4 star for the following reasons: The window could not be closed leaving a large gap - not good on a windy and rainy night( see also other review from July by vanetoni70), the reading lamps were broken - one with no light bulb, the bed was very uncomfortable and we could feel every spring, and the breakfast was mediocre. Would I stay again? no thanks!

We knew we were going to a 17th century farm, but we expected it to be (as stated on their website) a high standard of confort and luxury. Well, it was not.
Our room on the first floor was very outdated, with an even more outdated bathroom. The beds were very unconfortable and we woke upto the "sweet" smell of fried bacon comming up from the kitchen. The window would not close and the reading light didn't work. It is the same room shown in the picture, but taken from an angle so you can't see the awful grey formica closets on the walls.
On the other side, i must say the room was very clean and the area offers very nice walks. We would never come back.

Stayed one night,, found it by accident, ,what a lucky find! Lovely spacious room with all facilities and wonderful shower. stable door allowed us to enjoy the gorgeous garden and scenery. Pleasant staff and decent breakfast with full English ,fruit ,cereal ,juice etc. Good value. The best place we stayed at in Wales.

Room Tip: We stayed in the court yard rooms, first class.

We spent a night here on a short break with family. The location was stunning! The rooms were very comfortable, we had one room in the main building and one in an annexe, both were quiet and well equipped. Following a night out in Dolgellau, we finished the evening with a drink in the cosy communal living room in the main building, perfect! The cooked breakfast the next morning was excellent! The staff were extremely helpful and friendly throughout our stay. We will definitely stay again and would highly recommend this to others!

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 November 2010

I visited Dolgun Uchaf while visiting Coed y Brenin MTB trails.
I just wanted a cheap room for the night, this was the cheapest so I booked it. I was expecting much, but I was very pleasantly surprised.

I was staying alone and was given the Annex room. It is classed as a single room, but the bed was 3/4 which was nice and had the benefit of its own door.
While the room was fairly small it is plenty big enough for one person with a LCD tv, wardrobe, tea/coffee making and a nice en-suite.

The bed was comfortable and I had a good night sleep. Considering the price I didn't think breakfast was included, but it was and it was very nice. A few cereals available and cooked breakfast + toast.

Only one very small downside, if anything the room was too warm. I couldn't find a simple way to turn it down/off, but it wasn't too uncomfortable so I just left it.

Great base for anyone going to Coed y Brenin or just visiting Dolgellau area.
