“Better late than never :-)”
Reviewed 21 October 2013

We stayed at Dolronwy on the 30th of May 2013 as part of a 5 day walk from Llandrillo to Barmouth. We arrived very late(Sorry) due to another pathfinding mission through the very wet and boggy trail we were on.We were met with a very Warm and Welcoming smile and shown to our Lovely room for the night which was Wonderfully presented and Cosy and Warm.We were also shown the catalogue of dvd's which were available for us to watch if we so wished :-).The Shower was very spacious which we were Overjoyed with as we had come across a couple of tight squeezes previous.Breakfast was Fabulous(Umm Yumm Yumm) and the fresh fruit was a Lovely Surprise.Mo and Alex are Wonderful Hosts and we chatted long after Breakfast was over.We would with Great Pleasure stay again and Heartily reccomend Dolronwy to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Thanks Mo and Alex for putting up with us, 1st class hospitality, great breakfast and comfortable rooms. Walking distance from pubs and on the doorstep to one of the best trail centres in Wales, what more can you ask for?

Thank-you so much for your very positive review. It was a pleasure having you all stay, for such an important and exciting weekend of biking up at Coed-y-Brenin. Great to see your efforts on youtube too - well done boys! Hope to see you again soon. Best wishes, Mo and Alex.

You get to sleep in a character house with guest rooms in old bakery. Rooms are clean and warm with double-glazing windows. Our room had a view to a neatly kept garden with a view at the mountains in distance. B&B is Run by a welcoming, friendly and chatty couple. A perfect stay for any kind of travellers visiting the area!

A warm welcome awaited us on arrival from Mo and Alex. We had a lovely room with en-suite bathroom and our own front door which was convenient for coming and going. Ideal location, close to the town centre and so much to do in the area. Breakfasts were one of the best we have ever had and Mo and Alex could not do enough to make our stay memorable, which resulted in our staying for four days in August. Can highly recommend this B & B.

A four-night stay in June with hill-walking, cycling, and sightseeing in mind (the cycling fell through - next time, maybe). Made to feel very welcome from minute one (which was a much later evening arrival than planned). Mo and Alex's style is to provide excellent service, to assist in detail with any queries re the local area, but not to intrude if you just want to chill - which is exactly what most guests want, I would imagine. My room was very clean and well-appointed, with a comfy bed and very good en-suite facilities. There's also off-road car parking, and secure storage for bike and gear. Dolronwy is very well sited for quick access by foot to the town centre, but there's no feeling of being hemmed-in - just look up and there's Cadair Idris! I chose the cooked breakfast each day, and that really set me up for hours. Chatting with Mo I received a lot of useful advice re my assaults on Rhinogs Fawr and Fach, and on Cadair Idris where I took a route that I wouldn't have considered otherwise. On a wet day, Alex suggested exploration of Dolgellau itself, and what an interesting town it proved to be. My heartfelt advice? Don't waste time pondering - call Mo & Alex and book a stay. You won't regret it.

Thank-you so much for your great review and kind words - we really appreciate it. It was a real pleasure being your hosts and sharing chats in the conservatory every morning. It was good that you were able to chalk-up a few serious summits while here and enjoyed the lesser know tracks; happy to have shared a bit of local knowledge. And more walks remain! The route to the summit of Aran Fawddwy is one of the great (less used) walks of Snowdonia. This walk gets away from the crowds and nearly reaches 3000 ft. The scenery is superb with deep valleys and rolling hills, the main characteristic of the area. Come back and have a go - best wishes, Mo and Alex.
