There was 4 adult's and 4 teens in our party. As soon as we arrived the fell in love with the cottage. Its plenty big enough for a large group and its so cozy and comfortable (we loved the fairy lights on the beams) The kitchen is very well equipped and we didn't feel we "needed" anything extra. The teens loved the games room and the swings (never to old for swings...lol) A short drive to the village provided everything you might need and we really enjoyed our climb to The Pimple ??? I cant be sure that's the right name..:)

Its peaceful and relaxing and the evenings in with the fire and a bottle of wine where just what we wanted.

Its great value and we will 100% be back

Thanks so much for having us..xx

Thank you very much for your review and so glad you enjoyed your stay! Also nice to hear you enjoyed your walk to the "pimple" or Foel Caerynwch to give it's official name, it does have fantastic views from up there with not too much effort! Nice to meet you all and hopefully see you again :-)

“fantastic get away”
Reviewed 6 November 2014 for a stay in October 2014

We have just spent a long weekend at Helmau cottages with 3 other couples and it was fantastic. The cottages were perfect, warm, cosy and with everything you needed for a great weekend. The location was just stunning with local walks that were like picture postcards. We would recommend this place to anyone who wants great views, great location and great walks. Have booked up again for February.

2nd time I have stayed here with my toddler. This time came with friends and their kids. Fantastic break. You do not need to take anything with you accept food and towels. My 4 year old son had a smile on his face all weekend. Small play ground. Horses to feed. 10 mins drive from fair bourse and Barmouth beaches. Looking to book again next year.

We stayed at Helmau Cottage for a week with our children, young grandchildren and a dog. Plenty of room for 8 of us and the accommodation was enhanced by the outside space which included an enclosed garden, large games room, play area and paddock. Lovely tranquil location.

The weather was glorious and the first three days were spent at three different beaches Fairbourne, Barmouth and Aberdovey. The cottage is very well equipped and we had most of our meals outside sitting around the wonderful large slate table. Excellent accommodation and would not hesitate to recommend for all ages. Thank you.

Stayed for here for three nights and loved it. Dolgellau was the highlight of our visit to Wales and Helmau Cottage made it even more enjoyable. The cottage is extremely spacious and comfortable but the views over the mountains and the countryside are breathtaking.

“Great get-away”

The larger cottage was perfect for our extended family, comfortable and spacious for each member. The playroom provided a great outlet for preteens who are otherwise transfixed by electronic gaming - a great get-away. Kitchen well-equipped and stunning views. Loved watching frolicking lambs from the kitchen and lounge windows.

Myself and my family stayed at Ty Golchi (the washouse) which is part of Hellmau cottages for a short break. We were made to feel very welcome by Janet and Adam and arrived to a warm, cosy cottage. There wasn't one thing they hadn't thought of every need was catered for. There was an information pack in the cottage which they had put together which contained all the information you would need places to visit etc.
Janet will even make breakfast to order for a very small charge and left Welsh cakes for us on arrival. As we travelled with two little girls we were extremely pleased when we found the toys for the children to play with in one of the bedrooms. There was also a safety gate which was essential for us, everything was in place.
I would not hesitate in returning, a stunning cottage with stunning views of the mountains.

Thank you very much for your kind comments. As we have children of our own, we remember (not so long ago) what takes the stress out of taking small children on holiday and good to know that we are succeeding! Thank you for booking again next New Year, we love having guests returning :-)
