Other reviewers have mentioned the friendly welcome and excellent food and drink, so no need to add anything there (except to comment on the good value and the extensive use of local produce which made the experience relatively painless and very satisfying, respectively!) It was the affectionate little touches which we enjoyed most - the hairdryer in a black bag helpfully marked "hairdryer" in the wardrobe, a selection of herbal teas as well as the usual tea and coffee in the room, crisp white dressing gowns to wear after a shower and the staff for whom no request seemed to be a problem. Lovely for exiles from "y fro Gymraeg" to hear Welsh spoken too, by staff and local guests. Altogether a perfect and relaxing break in beautiful surroundings.

Room Tip: Our room, Eryri, was not large but perfectly comfortable, but next time I'd go for Mawddach - ro...

We've just returned from a short stay at Y Meirionnydd and wanted to share our experience with you. The hotel is right in the centre of Dolgellau so it's very convenient for local pubs and restaurants not that you'll need to use them as the dining experience at the hotel is so good. They have a comfortable bar to have a drink before you eat and the food was really excellent. Our room was beautifully appointed and we were extremely well looked after by all the staff. The attention to detail was noticeable. Please give this hotel a try if you're in the area!

My husband surprised me with a night away. The weather was dreadful, as we travelled to Dolgellau, but was well worth it, as we had a very warm welcome on arrival at Y Meirionnydd. Room was perfect, service was outstanding and the food was delicious, could not have asked for any more. Will be recommending to friends and family.

Booked at Y Meirionnydd for 2 nights with their Winter Escape special which included dinner. Dollgellau itself is a really pretty little village surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery. From the outside Y Meirionnydd is an attractive building situated in a great central location and once inside it just gets better! A small but really well stocked bar is to to the left of the main entrance where we enjoyed local ales and whiskey. To the right of the main hallway is the breakfast room which also doubles up as the overflow restaurant. Both rooms were comfortable and wonderfully decorated. Our room, the Mawddach, which was the largest of the five rooms, was perfect in every way. Furnished and decorated to a very high standard. A huge kingsize bed, with excellent pillows and duvet was extremely comfortable. The bathroom with its deep roll top bath, powerful shower and adjustable lighting was lovely. The suite was spacious, yet really cosy. Definitely try and stay in this room on any future visits. Breakfast was really good with an excellent choice to suit most tastes. We had dinner in Y Meirionnydd both nights and the food was to a high standard with a really good wine menu. The service was excellent and the owners and staff very welcoming and attentive. All in all a lovely destination to celebrate our fifth anniversary. Will definitely be recommending to friends and family.

We stayed for 3 nights between Christmas and New Year. This hotel totally lives up to expectations and to the high expectations we had from booking via the website. The room was luxurious and spotless, and the breakfast is a great start to a day. The restaurant is a great bonus as is the well-stocked bar. A day's walking followed by sloe gin, a great meal with an extensive wine list and a wonderful room to retire to - what could be better?

We have just had three nights here as a family of four. We came to celebrate New Year and had such an amazing time. This hotel is small but perfectly formed with a truly delicious menu...we have yet to beat the fillet steak....and the wine list is enviable, and great value....The team led by Marc and Nick really work hard to make sure your stay is a special one. We have stayed here three times now at various times of the year and each time it delivers....well done to you all, you deserve all the great feedback.

This was our second stay here and we were not disappointed. Everything was perfect. We stayed in room Cadir, it was fabulous, so cosy. The view of Cadir was blocked by the rain clouds but we didn't care.
We stayed bed, breakfast and evening meal. Everything cooked to perfection and a wine list to die for. We also loved trying Brecon Gin, so much so I have purchased a bottle for myself.
It was a great weekend away from a busy work schedule and hectic family life. We cannot wait to return.
