“Tip top stay.”

My friend and I stayed for a couple of nights whilst exploring the local mountain bike trails. The hotel is in an excellent location for hitting the trail centre at Coed Y Brenin and the hotel is tip-top - beautifully presented and all of the staff are helpful and attentive. Food and wine were excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed 3 nights in the hotel in the Cadair Room, which has views of the Cadir Idris mountains to the rear. The room is very well equipped and is lovely and quiet. Heating is by electric wall heater, which suited us, as we could switch it on and off, as required. The breakfasts were excellent - we tried 3 different options, and all can be highly recommended.

Staff were always friendly, courteous and helpful, but not at all intrusive.

We ate in the restaurant on the Saturday night and had a top notch meal. There is a set price per head for 2 or 3 courses which represents very good value, especially given the quality of the cuisine and locally sourced ingredients. The black welsh fillet steaks we ordered rare, were cooked to perfection and melted like butter in the mouth. There is a good wine list, with an interesting selection of reds.

We would thoroughly recommend this hotel for a stay and/or a meal in the restaurant, which is open to non-residents.

I was really amazed by the first class standard of this hotel I can't think of anything which would have enhanced my stay - oh, perhaps a table/shelf by the side of the bed I chose [because it was nearer the bathroom!]

You have thought of literally everything else. The breakfast was excellent - I had a warm croissant filled to bursting with mushrooms and melted cheese - delicious and great to have variation of choice from the usual offerings.

Thanks to you and very good wishes

Room Tip: On my own I chose the "small room", but it would also be fine for two on a short visit.

We spent 2 nights here and had a wonderful time. The hotel is very clean and well presented, and the staff are attentive and very friendly. Overall the Y Meironnydd was one of the warmest and friendliest places I have had the pleasure of staying in.

The breakfast is delicious, with an excellent selection. I can vouch for both the pancakes and big breakfast, both were very well cooked and used the best of local ingredients. We also ate in the hotel restaurant for both nights, and was surprised at both the excellent quality of the food, and it's incredible price. It really was excellent value for money. Even if you don't stay in the hotel, if you find yourself nearby you must eat here. There was also a very good wine selection.

The rooms were clean, and very wel presented. With excellent showers, a radio, and a very comfortable bed. Certainly no complaints there. We all had excellent nights sleep.

We are already looking to plan another short break here, to take in the local walks around Snowdonia.

We have just spent three nights in this wonderful hotel. The owners and staff work extremely hard to ensure that visitors have a very comfortable stay, there is great attention to detail. Our room was lovely, spacious, well designed and great choice of colours. We were very lucky with the weather but had we been forced to spend more time in our room it would not have been a hardship! The breakfasts were excellent, an amazing choice made from tasty local produce. Pleased to have found the delicious yogurts locally since returning home. The restaurant serves high quality, flavoursome, imaginative food and judging by the amount of people eating there is well known. Highly recommend to anyone wanting a mini break in a delightful welsh town.

Other reviewers have mentioned the friendly welcome and excellent food and drink, so no need to add anything there (except to comment on the good value and the extensive use of local produce which made the experience relatively painless and very satisfying, respectively!) It was the affectionate little touches which we enjoyed most - the hairdryer in a black bag helpfully marked "hairdryer" in the wardrobe, a selection of herbal teas as well as the usual tea and coffee in the room, crisp white dressing gowns to wear after a shower and the staff for whom no request seemed to be a problem. Lovely for exiles from "y fro Gymraeg" to hear Welsh spoken too, by staff and local guests. Altogether a perfect and relaxing break in beautiful surroundings.

Room Tip: Our room, Eryri, was not large but perfectly comfortable, but next time I'd go for Mawddach - ro...
