We stayed at Sunset Lodge for a weekend in September, following a recommendation. The owners were great, calling ahead and giving all of the information we needed for our stay, making recommendations for local restaurants etc. The lodge it’s self was brilliant! It had all the facilities for a perfect break away. I will definitely be booking again !
We stayed here as a base for snowdon, it was a little further away than where we have stayed before but totally worth it. Great lodge, very spacious with great sized bedrooms. Loved the fire and of course the hot tub was great for soaking those aches muscles. Alan was so informative and we called into Barmouth on the way home on his recommendation and so glad we did it was lovely, wow what a beach. Thankyou for allowing us to stay in your lovely lodge we will be back next year for our annual jaunt up snowdon.
We stayed in Lodge No.7.
The lodge was wonderfully spacious .The upstairs rooms had ensuite toilet & shower which was great and the downstair bedroom had accesss to a bath & toilet.
The duvets were very warm.
The kitchen had all the equipment you need to cook up a storm or just make drinks
The enviroment was wonderful, tidy clean & quiet; there were no sounds of dogs at all and even the chickens which were in a proper hen house & run did not disturb us.
It was exactly what I wanted .
My partner is a permenant wheelchair user ; the lodge was ideal for his needs- as a footnote he was not able to shower or bath but had to have wash downs, he also was unable to get onto the verranda to be with mr when I was using the hot tub .
The directions to finding the lodge were skechy - the sat nav directs u to a road that is near to the lodges- it was extremely frustrating trying to find the lodges after a long journey - it would be ideal if the lodge signs were more prominant & explanation of exactly where you should turn.
We were told that a local pub was easy to walk / push down to - this was not the case.
The hot tub was great but over chlorinated so much so that I developed very sore eyes- the owners decided they were service & put chemicals into the tub whilst we were there - this was an intrusion on our time there & meant I did not use the tub for the last day there.
The wood burner in the lounge on the night we arrived had water all over the surface of it and on the wooden floor by the stairs- we were told they were aware & had arranged someone to fix s roof slate to stop the leak & that we cd use the burner however we chose not to use it for safety reasons which was a big dissappointment.
The owners also failed to contact us 2- 3 days prior to arriving - I had made 3/4 calls to prompt contact- the owner eventually txt me the day before we arrived to give me the key code combination for the lodge & tell me which lodge we were staying in - the owner did apologise for the lack of communication.
There is a pub - The Vic which if u r fit and able to walk up & down to from the lodge you will find very good. The meat dishes are superb & the service is great & good value.
Overall the lodge was an excellent break & I would defintely return providing changes have been made.
We have been staying in this stunning lodge for the weekend, and have had nothing but i lovely time. Alan and his wife were so helpful and accommedating...even leaving balloons in the lodge for my partners birthday! The surrounding area is beautiful, with plenty of things to do ans placeals to visit. Would highly recommend staying here!!
The lodge is immaculate. We had such a wonderful time, just wish we could’ve stayed longer. The owners were very helpful with info relating to the stay and also recommendations for places to eat and visit. I will definitely stay here again
