“Disappointing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2013

Having read previous reviews of the park we were expecting good things, but on our arrival that wasn't the case ,we were invited to book activities for our 5 year old son only to find that practically everything for the coming week had already been booked up by owners of caravans on site, who are able to book 2 weeks in advance. As we were only there for a week it was very disappointing for our little boy. We then went to book a table in the restaurant only to find that they too had been booked up as well, we were given a table in the hall where the children's entertainment was taking place, as we were tired from the long drive we decided just to take it. We were sqeezed onto a small table, despite there being larger tables empty apart from mobile phones left on them in order to keep the table. When the food arrived we found it to be average but still had to pay the restaurant prices, even though we had to put up with extreme noise levels coming from the children's entertainment.

The caravan itself was of a high standard (Which we had booked) although there was no outside space to sit, as the caravans that were owned had, we had a mini car park 2 feet from the door !
The pool area is very good and especially the sauna and steam room, but on one occasion while in the pool a pool attendant reprimanded my wife for letting our little boy use one of the spare floats from the poolside ( Probably was reserved).

Overall it is a nice park in lovely surroundings, but it mainly caters for the needs of the caravan owners which is about 80% in my opinion.Another point being is that the park staff do not enforce the park rules in particular with owners kids who kick footballs around all over the place,

Would I rent again probably not, but if you are looking to buy a caravan then it is worth considering.

Room Tip: Avoid caravan 115 as it is next to a car park.

We are really disappointed to read of your experience here at Brynteg. Being at peak season, it will certainly be alot busier than most of the year and Hoseasons normally advise all customers to book in advance, on line with our Sportsbooker, to ensure you get as many activities as you need. I am sorry that this was not passed on to you. There is no differentiation between customers as to who can book and timescales and you can book up to three weeks in advance. We would certainly like to talk to you in more detail about your experience, please call Nica or myself James on 01286 873100. Many thanks

Simply a gorgeous location in the shadow of Snowdon. Well designed layout of accommodations and excellent activities on offer. Even though we booked early (mid Jan) our first choice of lodge was not available (supply and demand) so decided to get the higher priced, but better equipped lodge (what the heck, it is our only holiday of the year). Excellent move, because we then got upgraded at no cost (probably due to an owner changing their dates, not confirmed). So we had probably the best lodge we have ever had, with a kitchen better than ours at home and a hot tub. The bed was certainly a king size, which was bigger than advertised. Only small gripes in that the description of kitchen facilities did not mention that it had a full size oven, but no oven gloves were provided. Previous experience has been only a microwave being available n this type of accommodation. Also could have done with a clothes airer for drying off swimming costumes and towels. I missed in the small print that the accommodation had a Nintendo Wii and this wasn't mentioned at reception on arrival, so not having games boxes at home, we did;t see it until the last but one night. There were so many pluses though like the near empty games room every afternoon around 4pm which meant no problem with getting on the pool or bowling and the excellent pool, which we also caught at quiet times. The park was easy to find and was very ventral for a lot of exploration of the area. In fact most of the trips were so close that we could get back to the park in time to enjoy the amenities. We had two meals in the restaurant, which were excellent and lunch in the bistro. In the bistro we did have to wait nearly 30 mins for the order as there were only two staff on duty at 1pm. However due to the number of orders coming out of the kitchen we figured we were unluckily at the back of a long queue.

We would heartily recommend this park to anyone visiting North Wales.

We have just returned from our third visit to Brynteg in four years and a will be likely be making a fourth:
a) Caravan - Our caravan was lovely and clean with more generous sized beds than you often get in caravans. It was only 2 years old so for a rental it was great.

b) Facilities- Brynteg has a lovely pool with a fountain in the kiddies section which they adore. They is a lovely alcove with a spa bath in which makes for a relaxing change of direction. The pool area has a large conservatory at one end which makes a great sun trap when it shines. It gives a sun blessed feel and is very relaxing to sit and chill out after a swim.

The activities can be a little pricey but there is a good range on offer. Our caravan was opposite the golf course which was a handy activity for the kids on a nice day.

c) Entertainment/Catering - Brynteg have a first class entertainment programme to match that of a package holiday. Every evening our children excitedly hurried us up to head up to the cabaret lounge and we were extremely fortunate to have lots of luck at bingo! The bistro sold food of an excellent quality with plenty of choice for adults and children alike.

d) Location - Llanrug is ideally placed for the whole of Gwynedd. You can be on Angelsey within 20 mins or you can head into the scenic countryside of Snowdonia. Eitherway there is no shortage of things do with or without children.

I have been going on holidays in caravans in Devon for years now and always stay in Gold caravans. As this was a new place to me I didn't know what to expect. Upon arrival I was surprised how nice and upmarket the reception area looked and the staff were lovely and helpful. Upon finding our caravan I was stunned at the quality, cleanliness and overall space the caravan had, it made my usual accommodation seem less than a bronze standard. The living area was large and spacious, the main bathroom was a nice size and for a nice change the children's room had plenty of storage space. When we entered the master bedroom it looked more like a room in a hotel; spacious, comfy and homely. The site was very clean and you need a swipe card that is attached to your caravan key to enter the site. The maintenance staff were also very helpful, on the first morning there our car battery was dead and they helped us jump start it. We stayed in a Beaumaris 2 caravan and would have no problems in recommending the site to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Wales.

This place is fantastic. The park is in a great location and is kept in a great condition. Staff are very polite and professional. The caravans are all modern and are kept in a great condition. Swimming pool is very clean.

The changing rooms need a revamp and also note that they charge 5 pounds for a 15min induction to use the gym. I used the gym a few times however disposable blue towels were not refilled despite pointing it out a few times.

Overall, it's a great place. We will definitely be back!!!

We had a lovely break here. Staff were very friendly and prices for drinks/food were very reasonable. We stayed in glyder 2 caravan which is small but modern and clean. Would go for a bigger caravan next time. Our 2 boys loved it but were disappointed that there wasn't a small area/pitch to play football on - we've always found that a small pitch is an excellent way for them to play with other children and make friends. Only other suggestion would be to have a small table and chairs outside the caravan as there was nowhere to sit outside in the glorious weather.

stayed here for 4 days in july ,really enjoyed our time here,
we have stayed in haven parks over the years, and they can be hit and miss,
brynteg is everything all the reviews here say, quiet, clean, peaceful.
on check in to check out all staff very friendly, esp tommy the barman and nikka on rec,all very helpful.
we would have liked a lodge but they were booked out very early so we got a caravan,it was clean and had heating ,needed as weather was mixed the week we were there.would have liked it a bit bigger, not much storage space or room to move,we are not big people but you have to get into bed sideways, but as we were only 4 days here it was grand.it was set near rec and was in a lovely private area with parking outside and a lovely stream beside it.nice to listen to while having your meal.
pool was lovely, warm and very clean.we didnt find changing rooms to hot as a lot of babies in pool, and they need a warm room to get dressed in,
seems to be a lot of owners stay here, very quiet midweek, but anyone we met in pool at lake were all nice,.
lake is lovely ,agree more could be made off bistro maybe tea and scones light lunches, reading room,as views stunning.it was closed when we were there, well doors open no staff.
shop also was closed, tesco 5 mins away,we got a small shop on way here as had read reviews about shop not open.also got directions from a lovely lady on tills here,
turn at glyntwrog inn, sign for brynteg to the left . gulf ,petrol station turn right at inn,5 mins up the road.
we went to llianbris welsh slate mines,a great day out.walked up part of snowdonia,to a beautiful waterfall.took the boat trip.ate in the cafe there.only 4 miles from park,
would love a crazy golf course here and outdoor football area .playpark is for up to age 12,nothing here midweek for older children, tennis court locked,no ball games allowed on grass area,we went down to golf area,as someone here said needs cutting.more could be made of woodland walkway, very overgrown, pond also needs cleaning very murky,
could have done archery and man at booking area was helpful, but we had plans to go out that day.we still enjoyed our stay here, but my son is football mad and missed not having somewhere to just kick ball.
no entertainment midweek, bar was very quiet,,we played pool and bowling most nights.
from reviews everything starts end of july,so maybe loads to do then.or at weekends.
clean peaceful friendly park.great base for walks and sightseeing.
