Spotless and spacious is the best description of the room we stayed in, at the top of the hotel so very little noise, generous towels, as this was part of an all inclusive lands end to John O'Groats bike tour I do not know what the room cost but I think the cost would be in the budget range and at that I would say it is good value. BUT the break fast was a disappointment , how can they offer eggs scrambled, fried but not be able to Boil an egg ! The coffee was weak, the scrambled egg dry. So pleased we decided to eat dinner elsewhere (The "Who would have thought it" was great) The kings head is great place to stay in Monmouth but have your breakfast elsewhere

Stayed for three nights in June whilst walking offas dyke path, money saved on accommodation partially used to pay for taxis to and from walk.floorboards do creek a bit but to be expected from the age of the building. Usual great drinking and eating opportunities you expect from the weatherspoon pub next door.

We went for a weekend last november. It was cold and windy, but we had a goo time. Went back as a group for an anniversary and birthday. Hotel is very clean, well situated for the town shops, pubs and scenery. Great parking too. We found an amazing turkish restaurant for breakfast just past some spectacular coffee shops. Well worth a trip if you want a cheap but comfortable overnight or long weekender. All the pubs are good for food, entertainment and relaxing, also some lively pubs in the vacinity if you want.

Really impressed. Spotlessly clean.Hot water (after a little delay).Hospitality tray replenished daily including biscuits. Modern tv. Fresh towels. Heated towel rail. Bath with shower above - both working well. Overall well worth stay. Would definitely return although with a room with more natural daylight. Separately, the Pub side well managed - good breakfast. We were pleasantly surprised.

I used this as my base whilst participating in a sporting event about 2 miles away.

Easy to find hotel, with no car parking of its own, but a big public car park about 100 yards away which was easy to find, park and cheap to use (no charge after 5 and before 9 in the morning).

Hotel is attached to huge pub - so food and drink is easy, although you might have to put up with a few people returning to rooms late at night.

Mine was a small single room - with a desk, small bathroom and some wardrobe space. Room was warm, well ventilated and well appointed enough for a short stay - definitely OK if you are on a one or two night business stay - and OK for someone on their own - didn't see any of the other rooms.

Pub was good - breakfast available from 6 am I think, both healthy and traditional options - great value for money - coffee and a bacon roll was £2.19! Excellent stuff.

Had one evening meal here, and one up the road - again, excellent value for money - decent size meal, with a beer thrown in was about a tenner - cannot argue with value for money.

Only grip for me was the shower, which was more like a tap - and Saturday night I had quite a lot of late night noise from people coming back from the pub - the location of my room meant high traffic and creak floorboards - but all-in-all a decent, traditional English city centre hotel at a great price.

Room Tip: Try not to take 103 if you want a quiet nights sleep... but I'd imagine during the week is prett...
