Used as staging post en route to South Wales. Arrived very late but the bar is open to 12 and has guest beers at great prices. Room modern spacious and comfortable. Good value and varied breakfast served in the friendly pub. The pub may get busy at weekends but there are plenty of nooks and crannies. No quibbles - good value all round. Does not have own Parking.

The reception area was very nice and we received a nice welcome. The room we had was right over the kitchen area with the fans or air conditioner going for what seemed most of the night. I did mention this the following day at check out and the receptionist was aware of this yet even though the hotel did not appear to be full we had been allocated a room which was in a noisy area? The meal was okay but clean the tables please. Sticky tables and full of plates and glasses even when it is quiet.

Not stayed in a "Wetherlodge" before; a bit apprehensive as we're not generally Weatherspoons' fans but this fitted the bill as an overnight stop in Monmouth. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised: The hotel has a separate entrance to the main pub, so you're not fighting your way through the drinkers to check in. The room was spacious, modern, well decorated and had everything we needed. Bed comfort is very much a personal taste, but this was the comfiest bed we have had in a hotel for some time.

The negatives are very minor things really: The window opening was restricted to about 2 inches – how I've managed all these years not falling out of my windows at home I don't know! Also the full cream milk for the tea took a bit of stomaching first thing, but as I said these are very minor points. You could hear some "muffled" noise from the pub below, but it wasn't the sort of noise that would keep anyone but the lightest sleeper awake at night although surprisingly the windows in our room were not double glassed so you may get some noise from the street.

Overall though a very good value stay in a interesting and picturesque town.

We had to plump for a family room for £64 quid at short notice on this our second stay at The Kings Head, but it was certainly value by comparison to other chains or even B & B's. Room was large with a sizeable bath, flat screen tv etc, if you did have a couple of little uns in tow they'd be well catered for, with a cot in the room too. We stopped mid week so it was fairly quiet in the pub and the town and the service was attentive and quality. The only mild gripe we had was because it was a warm June evening we had the windows open on the night and the massive fans whirring away over the kitchen down below made it sound like we were on a ferry... But otherwise next time we come through we'll be stopping again and I can recommend the local eateries, this time we chose Pizza Express which was thriving. Monmouth is a beautiful little town, great stop off before experiencing the glory of wales.

I have nothing negative to say about this hotel. You get what you pay for. The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable & quiet what more could you want. The bar is the restaurant as in all Wetherspoons & is tremendous value for money. the food is typical Wetherspoons well cooked, quickly searved, popular lines & plenty of it.
Well worth spending time in Monmouth, it's a lovely part of the country.

Great position in middle of town. Very reasonably priced, clean and comfortable.
Old Tudor building fitting in lovely with surroundings. Room was comfy but felt a little seasick at first as room sloped so much that made my wife dizzy at first.
Pub was good and food was great. . Handy location for centre of town. No parking but carpark nearby and very reasonable.. View from window was Town Hall but being covered in scaffolding spoilt it. Will look lovely when finished though. On a serious note though Fantastic base to a lovely town with lots to do and some good places to eat.
