We went for a late lunch we have been many times before and always had a full room this time. It was empty!, we ordered but one of the dishes we wanted was not available as the waiter told us the oven had failed we do hope they get it fixed soon as the menu is quite reduced without it

Service was ok, the cake was a bit dry and tasteless but the milkshakes are absolutely amazing! Food was nice, not wow but nice enough

Reasonable selection of quickly prepared fresh, light meals, sandwiches and drinks. Some good desserts/cakes/scones etc. Interesting layout and variety of indoor/outdoor seating. Cunningly hidden upstairs at the back of the shop it's worth walking through to find. Quite efficient service if somewhat lacking in warmth but good value for money

Myself and a colleague were in Monmouth on business. It was a very showery, blustery day and we were looking for somewhere to have lunch. Weren't we lucky to have found Salt & Pepper? From the outside you would think just another nice shop, but go inside and upstairs there is the most delightful coffee shop/eating place. Nice ambience, friendly staff, fast service, great value and really tasty food. And the coffee is to die for - supplied locally from Ross on Wye, and made to Salt & Pepper's specification - delicious!!
Forget about the well known chains - if you want great coffee at a sensible price, give Salt & Pepper your custom.

Good dishes, well prepared and well presented. A nice selection of soups, sandwiches, salads, and lots of home baked cakes. Some very good scones. Three different seating areas and an outside roof terrace provide choice; the staff are generally attentive and helpful. Good coffee and teas, lovely orange juice and great milkshakes. Can be a little expensive and sometimes the portions are a bit on the scant side, with style over substance, but otherwise a good choice.
