How can a this hotel have one person on the bar with the place packed! Up to 10 people waiting to be served most of the evening! Very poor lack of organisation!!

“Lovely location”
Reviewed 1 July 2012

We visited for food during our stay in nearby Dolgellau. There was a good choice on the menu and although the waiting staff seemed to be a little over stretched and we had to wait a long time to order, the food itself came quickly. The staff were a little unprofessional at times, but that aside we had a nice meal.

The scenery outside is beautiful.

“Good supper in a stunning location”
Reviewed 21 June 2012

We called in the George for a quick drink and to admire the estuary view and ended up deciding to eat there the following night as the menu looked promising. It delivered: we had a fishy feast - mussel & smoked salmon chowder and scallops for starters and sea bass and salmon with pea risotto for our main courses. Good size portions so unfortunately no room for pudding. The staff were friendly and checked if we were enjoying our food. It seemed to be popular with locals and that is usually a good sign. The beers were good particularly those from a Porthmadog brewery eg Mws Piws. What more would one want?

“idyllic spot”
Reviewed 28 May 2012

this hotel, restaurant, pub is situated in an idyllic spot on the fabulous mawddach estuary. The view is "to die for" as kirstie allsop would say. Pub & restaurnt is warm & cosy in winter & a sheltered sunspot in summer. Its suitable for families with plenty of tables, room for children.service is good, friendly atmosphere, & the food is very good, the sunday carvery being particularly good value for money

“Great location, shame about the rough edges.”
Reviewed 10 April 2012

We stayed for the weekend and you could not find a more attractive location. The shame is the rest of it, the service ranged from OK to hopeless. Breakfast took on average nearly an hour to arrive and it wouldn't be so bad if it had been freshly cooked but it clearly had been spending a long time being kept warm. Not so bad for a cheap bed and breakfast but at their rates unforgivable. Such a pity it does not live up to expectation.
