We had a gorgeous suite - a lovely living room with a fireplace, flat screen tv, comfy sofa and a table and chairs to sit and look out at the views. We also had a kitchenette hidden away in what looks like a walk-in-closet with a fridge to keep your wine cool. A huge very comfy bed in a beautiful big room which had mullioned Windows both with views and a wetroom bathroom off the bedroom in a turret with a freestanding bath that had a huge shower over. Contemporary, modern, wood floors with underfloor heating throughout. Spotlessly clean. Would highly recommend a stay here. We had an evening meal in the castle; I had the best steak ever! There is only one very slight negative, because of the acoustics in the restaurant you feel like you have to whisper and even then you can here what other people are saying, it effects the atmosphere as everyone feels conscious of it, possibly if there was some background music it would make the room more relaxed, classical music maybe. Overall though I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to couples for a romantic break or as a wedding venue - it's gorgeous.

This is an excellent hotel, in a stunning location. The rooms are spacious, modern and very comfortable. They are equipped with a mini kitchen, with a mini bar, and tea and coffee making facilities. There is also complimentary mineral water and sherry. The suites have a separate lounge, two televisions and a blue-ray player. The bathrooms are also spacious and clean, and the complimentary toiletries are from L'Occitane. Breakfast is also very good, with plenty of choices. it is a short walk to the village, but the hotel provides a shuttle service.

We visited Portmeirion village in the late afternoon and treated ourselves to a fancy dinner in the Castell Deudraeth. The panoramic view from the resturant is wonderful and the resturant felt nice and roomy. The starters and main courses were both excellent. Unfortunately the evening was spoiled for me by the seating of other guests in close proximity either side of us despite empty tables everywhere else, the almost constant snickering of the staff to be heard from the kitchen, and some kind of inedible lumpy grey rubbery thing served supposed to be a profiterole, which I really should have complained about. What could have been a great evening ended up leaving a bad taste in ones mouth and wallet.

Now some may feel that title is a bit mean, but if the Castell is Beckenbauer, then the Hotel is Pele (or the Castell is Eddie Bishop whilst the Hotel is Kenny Irons - it's a Tranmere thing).

This was our second visit to the village for a winter stay, and I hope it's something we can do for many years to come. This time we brought some friends who wandered round with the same daft grins we displayed on our last visit.

The Castell is slightly more relaxed than the hotel, and the food is more high-end bistro than the Hotel's fine dining, but this doesn't diminish it in anyway, and it provides a nice contrast with the Hotel.

It goes without saying that the food was incredibly good, the atmosphere was pleasant and relaxed, and the surroundings were stunning.

See you next year

Room Tip: Bridge House in the village is beautiful and the view is incredible

Stayed for 2 nights on DBB in the Penthouse Suite as a birthday treat from my partner.
As part of the Portmeirion Estate, this was the main reason for the visit.
The penthouse suite is large and contemporary (do not expect an antique style room) with an oversized bed, great bathroom and lounge area.
You have the whole floor to yourself with a private roof terrace (weather permitting).
Restaurant was first class with freshly prepared cooked breakfast and a great dinner menu. The sweet choices were fantastic.
All in all a great experience, not cheap but the penthouse made our stay one to remember. Had an option of eating at the Portmeirion hotel also where the menu looked appetising but enjoyed our meal so much in the Castle that we ate there the second night also
Portmeirion only a short walk from the hotel and a mini-bus on request to ferry you into the estate.
All the staff were friendly and efficient and would highly recommend a stay at this special hotel

We having been visiting Portmeririon now for almost 30 years and it never fails to impress. We have stayed in the hotel and the cottage suites but for the last 4 visits we have stayed at Castell Deudraeth.

The service, food, facilities and ambience of the place is beyond compare. The standard is extremely high and we have never been disappointed on any of our visits. We usual eat in the hotel one of the nights of our stay and the Castell provide transport to drop you off at the hotel door and pick you up when you are ready to leave.

We love the Castell accomodation-the suites are perfect. With a bathroom in the turret and a coal effect fire in your sitting room it is perfect in summer or winter. The views from the windows are of fields and the sea and it is a 10 minute walk into the village proper.

The food is superb. Local ingredients and a modern twist to the menu mean that it is all very tempting.

The staff are lovely and nothing is ever too much trouble.
