“Wedding Weekend”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

We stayed in the hotel for two nights for my sons wedding. Never having been to Portmeirion, I was amazed at what a unique settlement it is, set in amazing grounds. The outside of the castell itself is interesting if not particularly attractive but the interior with its mock finishes is really atmospheric and the conservatory restaurant area, with views over the estuary is spectacular. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the staff could not be more obliging. It was a wonderful venue for a wedding and well worth spending a couple of nights here. Eating out, has the option of the restaurants in the village, a basic Italian and a fine dining hotel. Overall I can really recommend a visit. If you have not been before, I am sure you will be blown away!

We spent our second night in the village at the Castell. Having spent our first night at the Peacock Suite in the Portmeiron we thought our second night statism at the Castell might be a bit of a let down. Far from it. We loved it.
This is a much smaller hotel and far quieter with gorgeous grounds. Firstly the staff were really friendly and welcoming. Our room was in reality a suite with a large comfortable lounge with small kitchen area with fridge (behind doors). The bedroom was spacious with a comfortable bed, we slept so well. And the bathroom was in the turret, very quirky but very modern. Large pod bath and good shower. Works great as a wet room. Plenty l'Occitaine toiletries.
The atmosphere is very relaxed but professional. Enjoyed cocktails before a delicious dinner.
Breakfast is very good & in the dining room overlooking the gardens.
We were sad to leave. Oh & hope the receptionist's new puppy Milo (chocolate lab) is behaving.

My family and I stayed for 2 nights in the pent house.
While the location is amazing.
Firstly the pent house is in need of a make over cheap furniture is not a good look for a hotel of this standard.
On arrival we checked in but where not shown to our room.
We ordered room service ( for breakfast) for 7:30 it turned up at 8 with half of it missing. My advice to them is train your staff better and give the room a good make over.
We would stay again but my expectations wouldn't be very high.

Stayed in one of the suites was just like being at home with kitchen, lounge and on suite room. Was very private and left alone unless assistance was asked for. The ambiance of the restaurant and public areas of the building very homely. Food in the restaurant good and plenty to do round and about.

Fantastic Hotel just outside the main village (about a ten minute walk or minibus ride). Really lovely rooms plenty of space, great service, nice food. It's good to be out of the village but some may prefer to be in it.

Ate in the Castell restaurant last evening. The food is without doubt lovely exceptionally well prepared and presented but the service lets it down. Our wine did not arrive until after the starters and the table staff little difficult to attract. Overall happy with the meal but wouldn't rush back. They benfit from captive market in Portmerion guest and maybe a little complacent.

I previously stayed in the main hotel and decided to try the Castell for a change for my business trip. Was not disappointed! The room (Castell 5) was huge!! I decided to order room service and the food was just delicious! Service perfect as usual and I just want wait to stay there again very soon. If you haven't been here just go, perfect for a romantic night away, there really isn't anything close by so just enjoy the village, the beautiful scenery, gorgeous food and have a great time!!
