Wow! What a place. If you haven't been, you have to see it to believe it. The vision of the man and the completion of this wonderful place is amazing. From the very Mediterranean style buildings to the exotic gardens, the trails to the coastline, the different areas amaze. The cafés are reasonably priced and serve good quality food. On a sunny day you can spend the whole day exploring or just sitting in the sun.

went there a long time ago for my cousins wedding and we all had a great time , we were there for all of the day and I stayed locally (porthmadog) and returned the next day the place itself is just like being in a small place in Italy and the gardens are fantastic and quirky buildings to boot

If you have never left the United Kingdom or watched 'The Prisoner' then you would probably enjoy Portmeirion. It is like an over sized model village. It is a tribute of sorts to Italy and Italian architecture with other cultures and bits added on for good measure. The buildings are quirky but there is not a lot to them. They are small and a little tacky, some have seen better days.

If you want to take some good photos you need to arrive early because it gets crowded. The most enjoyable bits were the gardens and the beach. We did have a nice cream tea but the whole experience lacked the wow factor for me.

Having seen the original tv series The Prisoner back in the '60s I was moved by the visit subsequently to obtain a full DVD set of the 17-episode series !

Have been to North Wales many times but this was our first visit to Portmeirion village. We had a fab day looking around the whole village, browsing in the shops , sampling the lovely Italian food and going for long walks. The beach was stunning and well worth the effort. Have to say that the weather was very good not so sure the day would have been as enjoyable if it had been raining. Good value for money as spent all day there -adults £10.
