Just got back from a week away we stayed at penllyn cottages ( sleeps 8 ) ok the cottage could do with a little updating extra kitchen equipment new mattress. However the facilities on the farm were fab horse riding games room and a lovely craft room where the children could paint pottery. also the pool was the highlight for the children . The owners were very friendly and helpful. I don't know what people expect as this cottage was very reasonable for the price of our one week stay. Would recommend phoenix Chinese in phwelli . Also places to visit the snowdon railway and the labyrinth underground boat. Would def go back

Stayed for a week in this ptoperty. I booked through sykes cottages..
I was expecting it to have smazing amenities and to be like the pictures advertised.
The cottage was ok. Very much thrown together but fine. The beds were so bad we hardly slept.
The play area is the farmhouse garden with broken dirty dangerous toys with cknstant washing lines up complete with underwear!
The smaller toys were dangerous and broken. Bikes with no seat etc etc.
The jndoor games room.... badly broked table tennis tables.. old damaged bats. No net on one table.
Snooker tables with pockets held on with ribbons and shoe laces...
Swimming pool lining ripped and gloating about your feet when in pool. Dirt in botyom of pool. VERY DANGEROUS LADDER THAT COMES OUT WHEN CLIMBING ON IT.
Hot tub that is yes hot but.. switch to turn on bubnle screwed down and mouldy wood round pool..
I could go on but my hand hurts..
My boys had fun as the other families were lovely.. we were never introduced to the owners but was told it was normal. We are used to caravaning so thought this would be a treat.... a caravan in a frild would have been just as much fun for my boys.
VERY OVERPRICED. when made complaint to letting agent they were not helpfull in the end and took no interest.

Excellent horse riding facilities for first time riders & experience riders. Excellent and friendly staff, lovely coastal riding paths and beach rides. Horses all very well cared for, there are also 2/3/4 bedroom cottages with garden & patio areas, ensuite bathrooms, bed linen provided. Defiantly be back again next month xxx

We stayed in Deri cottage for 3 nights four days, we got a good deal!
I read the previous reviews so was prepared to expect the worst!
We arrived and as we were told the keys were in the door, we had a dog with us so I was not expecting the cottage to be spotless, it was clean! I bought toilet roll, tea towels washing up liquid etc with us, I would recommend this as the supermarkets are 8 miles one way and 5 the other. We also bought our food with us, well most of it! Depends on when you go but as we came in feb, I would recommend warm clothes and hot water bottles as it is heated by electric heaters there are plenty but it takes a few days to get used to, there is a meter which takes £1 coins we ran on about £6 a day but it is winter! We cooked 3 times a day in here too! There is a washer dryer which is good and all appliances looked new!( the airer was broken and we did find it hard to dry clothes without putting them in the washer dryer) There is an inclosed garden for the dog which was good, swimming pool was good and gym although only open from 10 am till 8pm( the hot tub was hot but that's it looks like they had screwed the on switch so you couldn't make bubbles which was very disappointing), I say only because I personally like going to the gym early! The games room was tired but our kids loved it you can buy ping pong balls from the farm house for 25p and this is where you would also get your tennis rackets from, information was found in here about the farm and again in the party room above the pool. I would recommend taking dressing gowns for at least the kids for after the pool because they could then just walk back to the cottage, there are two changing rooms but this would have made our life easier! Toys and play ground are tired looking but again didn't bother our kids they just loved it!
You can walk to the beach through a few fields from the cottages if its going to be wet I would recommend your wellies, these are fields with horses and sheep so flip flops will not do! There is so much to do within an hours drive of here and what more do you want then a view of the sea in the morning! We didn't see the owners but knew where they were If we needed too!
You should also take a drive to swallow falls! Beautiful.
Lots of tourist info was also at the farm house ( where you get the balls from) and a few leaflets in the cottages, we had 3G so googled everything we needed!

I'll start with the positives. Some aspects of the place are great.
A large group of us rented a few of the cottages for a long weekend, and it was great being able to have our own space whilst still being as a group. Location is pretty good for seeing a bit of the area, and a good open view from the cottage. The party room was great for a party night that we had, and the pool lovely and warm.

But the cottages need a jolly good cleaning, and a bit of money spent on them. They were freezing cold and the heater was inadequate.
Cooker takes forever to heat up, and then there seems to be a problem with the thermostat -not getting as hot as it should. There didnt appear to be instructions on operating the appliances, or touristy leaflets for information on the area, recommendations for where to visit, eat, shop etc
In previous accomodations I have stayed at, these have been very useful.

I would love to leave a great review for this property!I think the owners have had some really good ideas for developing their business after the farming crisis..but... it almost feels like they have taken on too many things and have spread themselves too thin. We have just got back from a 3 night stay in Tudwal. Due to an initial error, the owner had heated up the next door property, so when we arrived it was ice cold. We also didn't know we'd need £1 coins for the meter, and we only had 2, so we had to choose between heating it up, having a bath or having enough left to cook breakfast! Fortunately the pool was open and this was really good. Nice warm hot tub and a good sized pool. Mr Parry found us the next morning and was very apologetic, and gave us lots of £1 for the meter which was kind of him. I'm quite happy to overlook this initial mistake but there are several other issues that need looking at really:
1) tell people in advance they will need £1 for meter.
2) Sort out the storage heaters. The convector heaters are hugely expensive and just send the heat upstairs, so the children were boiling hot and we were freezing! Very cold in the morning before you can get heaters on.
4) Top drawer of dish washer broken.
5) Drawers in crugloft broken and nearly fell out onto daughter's foot.
6) Layout of crugloft a bit strange. Do you really need 2 bathrooms for a small, 4 person holiday cottage? Much better to get rid of upstairs shower room, most of which is unusable unless you are 3 years old as is mainly under the eaves. Children's beds had to be moved as were right under beams and I was worried girls would bang heads on them.
7) Stairs very steep with big gaps in between. 3 year old very scared at first but got better with practice. Stair gate really needs to be at top of stairs, I was worried about them wandering round at night and falling down as veyr little space up there.
8) Shower - useless! After a very cold first night with little heating and a thin summer duvet I needed a hot shower...got a luke warm trickle...nearly went home at this point :(
9) Why don't you jsut put an over-bath shower in downstairs and take all the bathroom out from upstairs? People expect a good shower these days.
10) Lots of outside toys for girls but all very dirty, mostly broken and patched up. Just as well we don't have fussy children!
11) Nowhere to dry wet clothes - especially tricky in the winter and when doing lots of swimming. Had to use the ironing board to hang everything over.

Good points: girls loved the pool and the toys, lovely walk to beach across the fields, great location for beaches, nice towns, walking etc. Lots of outside toys. Games room seemed good for older children, gym looked brand new but didn't test anything. Spectacular views of cardigan bay. I would like to say we'd go back as I think the owners have tried really hard but I think I'll keep an eye on Trip Advisor before I book anything else!

Room Tip: Tudwal, Enlli and Gwylan (and possibly Dwyfor) all face the sea, definitely worth trying to get one...
