We spent a truly wonderful week at Songbird. It's simply special. Joan is a superb hostess, from meeting us so we didn't get lost, showing us the best places to visit, providing wine and cheese etc for our arrival and all the little extras that made it a home from home.
The views are spectacular, the lodge is quaint and quirky, lots of space and the gardens were an added bonus.
The Lodge s perfectly located for exploring all the Peninsular, lots of spectacular beaches within a 20 minute drive.
Thank you Joan for making our week so special. We now have a wishing tree xx
Despite the horrid weather, we had a wonderful time at Songbird Hideaway. We got downpours and wind every day but felt like we weren't missing out on much tucked away in our cozy little dwelling on the hillside. When we did get views, they were fantastic- Snowdonia to the east and Cardigan Bay to the south. It's a very special place and Robin goes out of her way to make you feel at home.
The drive leading up to it is kind of rugged and rutted, but that's part of the adventure in getting there. The cottage itself is small- perfect for couples- and decorated very cutely. Bed was super huge and comfortable and ended up cheffing it up in the nicely equipped kitchen several nights during our stay. We stayed warm and dry and felt pleasingly far away from it all, but it's a quick drive from two seaside towns with pubs and shops and some really lovely sandy beaches. It's a great base for walkers- the coast path in this part of Wales is rugged and uncrowded, and it is only an hour to get to Snowdon. Highly recommended for couples looking for a quiet break away.
