We arrived at Barcdy on the 1st of June (for 4 nights) just as the site was going into off peak time. You would never tell that the week before was peak - the grass was immaculate, as was the rest of the site.
We were greeted by a lovely lady (the owner?) who was very helpful, letting us know all the options for electric tent pitches and advising which might best meet our needs. We decided on the main field to the front of the site because of the views and easy access to the toilets, showers, wash house and freezers.
We pitched easily with good reach to the electric hook-up and had more than enough room in the pitch for our tent, tarp and car! I really appreciated that the pitches were clearly marked, (although it wasn't particularly needed this time as there were only three other tents in the field) as the boundaries were very clear.
There was ample facilities available, including the use of freezers and 10p ice pack loan. The facilities were immaculate - I am sure the toilets must have been cleaned after each user, they were that clean! You are able to BBQ (there are bricks to prevent scorching the grass) and there are recycling facilities. There were also plenty of picnic benches that campers were able to use which saves on bringing along extra equipment such as a camping table.
They warn about traffic noise from the road outside but it is very minimal, especially as there is works going on, so it comes in batches rather than constantly. We found that the birds masked a lot of it too, as they sat in the hedge tweeting to each other as dawn came.
The other campers were all lovely too and we seemed to create a bit of a community, which made for a safe and happy holiday. We were always able to find a member of staff to ask questions to, as well, which was helpful when we needed to gain access to the freezers.
Overall, we found Barcdy to be the perfect place to stay with easy access Harlech, the beach and many other attractions including the Slate Caves which were perfect for a wet day. The views from the field are lovely too and at the right time of year, there are stunning sun sets to watch as you relax from the comfort of your tent.
