Stayed over the bank holiday weekend, weather wasn't the best but the kids enjoyed the camping. Nice clean site, plenty of space, clean toilets/ showers. Reception and booking in was easy and clear. Nicely situated to explore the north west area. Plenty of kids on site but the site was very quiet come late evening. It does state that all ball games should be played on the football field, but the football field is on quite a slope ! Kids loved the rope swing.

Site located close to Porthmadog ( 10 min drive) and Harlech (15/20) mins. Nice easy checkin, Site rules and facilities explained. Camped on top field, shared 2 pitches with a gazeebo, each pitch is generous, we have 2 very big tents and there was plenty of room. The width of the pitches ensure there is plenty of space and tents aren't on top of each other. The top field also seemed sheltered from the wind compared to the bottom field. It rained most of the weekend but the grass didn't get too boggy, only where idiots wheel span their cars trying to drive up hills. Never understood why people don't walk the short 5 meters to their tent. There are also lamps lighting the road so helps for the late night walks to the facilities! Fires and BBQ's are allowed but must be raised off the ground. Most Pitches are pretty flat unless you decide to pitch on the top bank on the field, even then didn't look too bad. The owners walk the site each evening ensuring there's not too much noise and asking if any issues which is good and a nice touch. Good shower and toilet facilities ( including laundry & hair dryers ) that were always clean and with hot water. If you're looking for a chilled weekend of camping in a good location for days out with clean facilities this is the place! Thanks Barcdy for a great weekend!

Stayed here for 4 nights when visiting North Wales. Beautiful location, ideal for touring.
The campsite is quiet and well maintained. Toilet blocks and showers are well kept... you do have to keep your hand in the shower but that’s the only negative. Washing machines good size...£3 a wash and tumble drier is £2... needed 2 cycles to have things dry... but didn’t mind as we did have wet weather. Good recycling so campers please try and follow this... really enjoyed our stay and will use again!

We stayed here for two weeks. From our arrival to our departure George and Karen were extremely friendly.
Our pitch was a fully serviced one on the second tier, this allowed for amazing views, which on the odd good day were stunning.
Facilities were very clean indeed, as for the grounds they were well kept.
Yes, I had read previous reviews and we were given an information sheet on arrival, which on one occasion proved invaluable.
Would we return, you bet!

Firstly, looking at the other negative reviews on here, I'm expecting a defensive and unapologetic response from the owners and to be honest, I'm not really interested in what they have to say about this review. I'm writing this in the hope that potential visitors carefully consider their options before booking here as it's not the cheapest of sites.

I attended a family camping trip this weekend. The 10 of us were celebrating our 20 years of camping together as a family. The group includes my father, uncles, brothers and nephews so it's a family event attended annually. We traveled from Birmingham and some as far as London to get here so the trip takes considerable planning.

This is the fourth time we have visited Barcdy campsite. Previously we have enjoyed brilliant facilities here, a warm reception from PREVIOUS owners (who were a lovely elderly couple), wonderful views etc etc. Furthermore, we have built some brilliant relationships with the local residents who frequent the Ship Aground Pub (about 15 mins walk from the site) and they are now family friends of ours. They've come to know us over the last 5 or so years and were really looking forward to our visit.
Unfortunately this time around we didn't quite get the warm reception we were expecting. Throughout our stay, we were made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome by the owners. Their main issue appeared to be the amount of cars we had. We had 5 cars in total and that's only because we are serious about our camping and carry lots of expensive equipment not to mention we travel from varied locations to get here. We've been to the site times before with the same number of vehicles and not had these issues before. On the Friday, we were asked rudely to move our cars closer to the tents. We did this without any resistance of course but were a little shocked by the owners approach. On the Saturday, the owner pulled up outside of our tent, marched out of his car in a confrontational way and squared up to us and insisted I moved my in by another foot! How petty and ridiculous. I moved the car as he requested as we didn't want to cause any upset - we are not the type of people who look for trouble.

I can't believe how rudely we were spoken to over something as ridiculous as this and as a result we won't be attending this site again. A shame really as we've had some great times here. We are all professional people and understand the camping etiquette so to be spoken to like scum from the owner on several occasions was really the final straw and put a real dampener on our weekend. We broke the news to our local friends In Talsarnau on the Saturday and they were very upset and are trying to help us find an alternative campsite! Good on them!

As for the owners, it was clear that they weren’t open to engaging in any conversation about the feedback on our stay so this review was the only way to express my views about this campsite. Other negative reviews talk about the aggressive nature of the owner also and I totally agree….

Anyway, rant over, we will take our money elsewhere

Thank you for your review. My response will be unapologetic as there is 2 sides to every coin, pity you had to get your inspiration from other reviews. You came as a group of 10 males on 3 tent pitches, on arrival you got the same welcome as every other guest however I explained our quiet policy after 10.30 and that we do advise all who had managed to book individually and arrive as a group.
At 11pm our night staff had to ask you to keep the noise down as you were still cooking in a gazebo. We patrolled at 12pm and had to ask for you to keep your voices down as 52 tents were sleeping 3 were not, this is not our camping etiquette.

You had 2 cars in your own pitches, 1 in the pitch to the left of you and 2 in the pitch to your right, my husband asked you politely to move your cars out of the adjoining pitches as we are very busy in high season and needed the pitches. You told him the owners of the cars had gone out but promised you would move them when they returned, that did not happen and the cars were left there the whole of the next day too. We both came up in the evening and the cars were still not moved, whether it be 1 foot, 1 meter you shouldn't be in other peoples pitches.
You mention you are professional people, this doesn't mean you can treat lowly camp site workers with contempt, we try to provide a service for people who enjoy a relaxing break. We will always get reviews such as this one, as we understand some peoples idea of a camping trip is not consistent with our rules, there are parks that would be happy to accommodate you.

Finally I agree with you that, potential visitors should carefully consider their options before booking here, if your intentions are to be up late at night keeping fellow campers awake or are part of a large group please look elsewhere. We have rules that we expect our guests to keep to to ensure people get a peaceful nights sleep, we will not wane on these rules based on a minority of reviews.
