This small B&B is located on the East side of the A496 about 3/4 mile north of the small village of Talsarnau (The Ship Aground on the A496 in the village serves evening meals) and about 1/4 mile south of the junction of the A496 with the toll road from Penrhyndeudraeth. The small sign at the end of the long driveway merely says 'Farmhouse Bed & Breakfast' so keep a good lookout for it and the driveway!

A friend and I stayed at Bryn Derw while visiting the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland railways across the stauary in nearby Porthmadog. We were made most welcome by Linda and her partner, Bob. Rooms were well equipped and all plumbing and electrical equipment functioned as expected. Tea making capability was provided in each room. Beds were comfortable. The location was beautifully quiet as Bryn Derw is set back about 100 yards off the A496, which, in any case, carries virtually no overnight traffic.

The room that my friend had was located in the main house. Mine was located in what appears to have been a converted garage to the left of the main building. It is accessible through a large sliding picture window. See photograph. I therefore had complete privacy but had to go outside to get to the main house for breakfast. No great hardship as long as it isn't raining hard or freezing cold!

Linda made us most welcome as she chatted with us while preparing our breakfasts in her huge and tastefully modern kitchen. Bob came in and joined the conversation. We felt as if we were instantly part of their family!

Would I return and stay at Bryn Derw if I were in the area again? Certainly!

Have just stayed 2 nights at this B&B while visiting the Victorian weekend at the nearby Ffestiniog Railway. I stayed in the bedroom in the main building (I believe it was once a barn) and couldn't fault it. Large bedroom with double & single beds, large bathroom with shower, bath. Breakfast was served in the large kitchen, and was hot & tasty.
Only negative point I can make is for anyone staying here not to look for signs saying Bryn Derw b&b; the roadside sign between Llandecwyn & Talsarnau actually says Farmhouse b&b.

Room Tip: There's only one bedroom in the main building (there is also a separate self contained studio) so can't really answer this......................

What a lovely welcoming idyllic place to stay. Husband Granddaughter and myself had a fabulous 4 days the food was excellent the room lovely and comfortable clean and welcoming after a long day walking. Linda and Bob made us feel like old friends who had popped in for a cuppa and a chat. We will stay again soon and hope to make it a regular highlight of our travels. Thank you Linda and Bob we had a great time and will keep in touch friends are like gold dust - precious and you made us feel like friends. Thank You for your hospitality.

Stopped here on the off chance while passing through after a festival and was made to feel really welcome. Spacious room and ensuite were clean and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was first class and great view from the top of the hill next door. Would definitely recommend.

A truly wonderful place to stay and would recommend to anyone.. The location is idyllic, lovely accommodation and breakfasts. Linda looked after my mum and made sure nothing was too much trouble for her and made her feel so welcome. Looking forward to staying again soon.
