Newly refurb'd. Staff friendly, profession and fun, food delish especially the sticky toffee pud (on par with caramel sticky pud)
The place doesn't look great from outside but trust me if u want good food at ok prices with nice atmosphere it's lovely.

This unassuming pub has a large restaurant at the back of pub which, from the road, you would not know it existed. The staff were really friendly & helpful. The menu was interesting and the food was not over priced or pretentious. The restaurant has been refurbished to a high standard, as are the toilets. I would recommend you try it!

The Ship Aground is a really nice place, with friendly staff and a very relaxed atmosphere. The menu isn't the most extensive and there were a couple of options that weren't available but it's good value and tasty as well. The wine is pretty cheap as well for a good sized glass and the staff are genuinely warm and helpful. There was a bit of a wait for the food because a large group had just ordered but this was explained to us and wasn't too bad really. Definitely a nice place to go and having a good car park is also a real benefit compared to some other places nearby.

Were staying in the village and decided to have a drink in the bar and look at restaurant menu. The sign outside said it was open and the door was wide open so we walked in - no one around. A local outside informed us the pub was not open until 5.30, an hour later so we went for a pleasant walk around the estuary. Arriving back at 5.35 there were others with drinks sitting outside the pub so went in. Again there was no one there to serve us. We looked in restaurant and called out but again no one around. We waited 10 mins in the bar to see if someone would come but alas no-one arrived to serve us so we took our custom back to our B&B (a wise move actually!). Very trusting to leave door wide open for all to just walk in (could not do that in our town!) but would have been nice to have someone there!

Thank you for your review. It is a shame you did not get to experience our friendly staff and delicious food. The pub itself opens its doors at 5.30pm, and, out of season, the restaurant opens at 6pm, which may be why there was no one in there when you called in at 5.35pm. It is very odd that there was no one in the bar area either and can only suggest the member of staff on duty was outside talking to customers and did not realise you were waiting to be served. We hope you will visit us again soon, we pride ourselves on our tasty food and friendly staff and would like to be given the chance to prove this to you. Diolch / Thank you.
