“Disappointing”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

I thought we were booking a meal in a restaurant (table cloths, napkins etc) for our wedding anniversary but it was more like a café. We ate in a conservatory with a tiled floor and no ambiance whatsoever (a door to the toilet was at one end) Other diners hadn't even bothered to dress up and there were even babies in carriers. The menu was very ordinary (and overpriced). I had the lobster bisque with tagliatelle, prawns and mussels. I couldn't eat it all. The sauce (bisque) was overpowering and far too condensed. It was also too hot (temperature) when it arrived at the table. A few vegetables, well any vegetable - you can't count the few rocket leaves used for decoration - would have made it better. My husband was happy with what he had. The staff were excellent, very friendly and pleasant. Definitely not a restaurant though.

“Excellent food”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

We had the early bid special and what great value for such good food. Had starter and main which were both delicious but ordered bread with olive oil and vinegar dip whilst we waited, this was not necessary as the starters came with bread which we ended up leaving. We enjoyed everything we had. Lovely place.

“Tasty, fresh, local food”

The food was healthy, fresh and above all mostly locally sourced. The choice was wide and the chef accommodating. Altogether and yummy experience

“A little odd but great food”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

The family (5 adults, 2 children and a baby) all went there for lunch on a rainy day. The place was vey odd and rather like a sketch from Little Britain. Although the web site suggests you book, which we did just in case, we were the ONLY table in all afternoon on a Rainy Saturday afternoon during the school holidays. Although the place is odd and we all felt a little on show the food was nice and we all had a really enjoyable meal. The lady serving us was a little bizzar though - when asked if the beef would be served rare she replied that they only serve it well done because that is the way the welsh farmers like it!! A very odd statement considering it was not being cooked by Welsh farmers but also as a family of farmers from Wales we also found it a blizzar and completely wrong thing to say. Anyway, although we won't be rushing back because of the atmosphere and wierdness of the place, we all enjoyed the food and if you are looking for some good food in that area you won't go far wrong.
